Save Spuds Mackenzie!!1!!
Soooo, a three year old kid broke out the Crayola washable markers and went to town on the family dog.

This being Cute Overload the response was immediate and predictable.

HORRIBLE PARENTING!

BAH! HORRIBLE CHILDFREE OVERREACTION!

YIKES! HORRIBLE THROW ON THAT COUCH!

I grew up with dogs - one in particular that I annoyed incessantly at three or four, and eventually she snapped at me (barely nipped my upper lip, broke the skin but did no permanent damage).

I learned a valuable lesson: Don't annoy the dog. Dog never did it again, and I didn't tell my mom because she would have (a) laughed at me and (b) given me the, "[info]shark, don't annoy the dog" lecture.

That dog's easily 85lbs - she could get up and go somewhere else if she wanted to and there'd be nothing the kid could do about it.
