For those that don't want to read the unfunnybusiness post, she had anencephaly (basically, was born without a brain and part of her head). She's effectively been dead this whole time without the body realizing it, and with the mother refusing to acknowledge it, which was the source of most of the hate mail the mother has been receiving. DO NOT look at the pictures in the wikipedia article unless you have a strong stomach.
