My Clothes are For Everyone - except YOU.
From a mouse on Wank Report.

High-end fashion blogger, Susie Bubble, tries on an unfortunate creation by Pamela Hogg and posts the photographic results to her blog.

The designer's PR is not amused and demands the pictures be taken down for reasons that change with each discussion.

Defense of the designer ensues. Nasty defense!

http://pipeline.refinery29.com/daily_links/gaga_at_opening_ceremony_paul.php

"Susie Bobble isn't ugly but she's not pretty either. She's an average looking girl who loves above average looking clothes and therein lies the problem.

Message to Ms. Bobble: Make your own clothes from patterns and leave Pam and other talented designer pieces for the more suitable, pretty and slighter girls or women."

Susie pulls down the photos but is hurt and it's not from pulling off the tightest Spandex this side of the Power Rangers.

The imbroglio becomes the talk of the town.

Meow with a side of wank.

ETA: Deena of "Fat Girls Like Nice Clothes Too" has her own hilarious response.

Designing for people with the least amount of curves--the closest the human body can get to a living clothes hanger--takes more talent. Only Wal-Mart designers actually try and take account how a garment will look on most people. I mean, how gauche. *hair flip*

Clearly, body shape is the problem here. Neon is only an outrageous color when it's worn by someone over 100 pounds. Why must fatties ruin everything?

I am torn between LOL WHAT IS THAT THING and WE SHOULD ALL BE WEARING THIS because damn if wearing those full body leotards wouldn't make everyone disoriented enough to stop being shitheads just for a little while. I mean you couldn't commit crime in that because you wouldn't dare leave the house. All around win.

I almost thought you were going to say that you couldn't commit crime because everyone would be dressed like superheros and attempt or succeed in kicking your ass.

I love Susie Bubble, even though the clothing lines she features often make me go, "....huh." But then she'll post an outfit and put it together in some insane creative way that looks amazing.

The best response to these shenanigans has been Deena of Fat Girls Like Nice Clothes, Too. It's ILLUSTRATED, people.

and this is why I'm VERY careful about what I cosplay. Just because I can make myself a Sailor Moon costume it does not mean I should inflict that on anyone, myself included. But make one full-body Tonberry costume, or wander around dressed as Pompom from HSR, and you're suddenly everyone's favorite hall costume. :-)

But for real clothes, I prefer something more sensible and classy, not something that looks like what they wear for the encore of "Mamma Mia."

Susie trivialized Pam's creations– she compared them to Power Ranger costumes (which were basically copies of Pam's catsuits to begin with!)

I'm not sure that bit in parenthesis is the compliment you think it is, sunshine.

Susie is fucking adorable and Pam Hogg's publicity people are douchenozzles.

K, I have a serious problem with people calling other people ugly (or just generally putting down their looks), so naturally this is making me want to rage a little. Shit, I can't even find the words. These people sicken me.

The website girl looks a lot cuter in that than the celebrity pictured in the same kind of thing, anyway...it somehow...suits her? If such a thing can suit anyone. (Har har, suit. See what I did there? Yeah.)

I have a huge problem with people criticizing others' looks, as well. :\ I feel like it's such a ridiculously low blow... I mean, you can't really help what you look like. No one should be made to feel worthless for that. (And, in any case, I still don't think I have ever actually met someone who is "ugly." People just look like... people, lol).

All that aside, that suit is hideous and I'm thoroughly amused that the designer is worried about bad publicity for it. It... it's already kind of it's own bad publicity just by existing.

There's a reason I am not into fashion. It doesn't take much to be "fashionable" on a lady made up to be heroine chic who never treated her metabolism issues because she knew she could get money for her itty bitty body. It would take real talent to make clothes that can look good on people who are actually overweight, curvy, or even truly unattractive. Granted, obviously more than one variation in size would be needed — no one likes having extra fabric hanging off their hips, thighs, or boobs — but if someone could do that, or even approach that, I would actually worship at the fashion altar for once.

SARIS FOR EVERYBODY.
