I, P. [b]Badlarr[/b], am truly sorry for posting this wank.
Last time I posted something from [info]writers_guild I met my BFF, [info]eggie1978. I wonder if [info]jay_alonzo will be my friend?

'cause, see, J. Alonzo got this mega-amazing idea, so he wrote a chapter that he wanted reviews on. It's all like, political and shit, and it's about the country of the Middle East, and there might be a boy who flies in there, and he's so very good at what he does that he can single-handedly make manga a genre instead of a medium.

However, as far as the story goes, this is a novel which takes from all cultures and amalgamates them into a story which draws from the World War II era, current economic and international threats, as well as a future where the story occurs in which experimentation on the cure for disease has manufactured many odd side-effects in a few people while folk-heroes from the past carry on a lineage into current day where they correspond with Interpol to keep a post-depression world in check.

Really, with a description like that, how can you not go check it out?

So what's the problem, right? Well, J. Alonzo miiiiight not have done any research on the very epic subject he's trying to write about. Psh, like anybody would actually notice.

J. Alonzo concludes that those big mean meanieheads who think he's too white won't rest until he quits writing entirely.

BUT NOT until he's posted about it on his blog, which you may not want to go to unless you have a fast stop-that-fugging-music finger.

You see, I undertook a small challenge to write and post a chapter a week (with a head start) of this high-concept story based on a comic book I was working on in high school. So, of course, being that this was a big project I really wanted to advertise my product and get some feedback, maybe meet a few new friends, mingle, network and whatnot. Well, I posted a synopsis as well as my own comments on the piece to sell myself and my book and I really rubbed these people the wrong way-

No I mean it, they are REALLY pissed.

So, they go on to flame me for awhile until one of their members rolls in to inform me in a condescending comment below (which I kept from a post in which I was happy about the reception of my posting) that people are upset and they demand that I respond because what I wrote was extremely offensive. Well I got there and the tone went from justified weariness, to constructive criticism, to an all out personal vendetta to get me to stop writing and publishing this story as I, J. Alonzo, am far too young and far too white to write my own story.

I said my piece, apologized for the sins I committed against them, but still they persist so here it is, I'm acknowleding the elephant in the room, here goes.

By the irish blood coursing through my veins on behalf of my anglo heritage, I, J. Alonzo, am truly sorry for the misgivings of the past.

However, I, J. Alonzo, prefer to look at things on the brighter side. Sure, a band of overly hostile individuals who want nothing more than to see me stop writing altogether is a little daunting, perhaps a little threatening and unsettling to some, but I prefer to be optimistic.

But really, J. Alonzo is laughing. Because he has a hit counter. And bold tags.

As a bonus, Trillian is still crusading to rid the world of the evil that is writers_guild and Winterfox.

ETA: As the OTF chapter of the official J. Alonzo bookclub, I urge you to not miss the Companion #1. P. Baddy out.

I have decided to stop writing altogether.

*sigh*... Yes my friends it is true... I wrote this series for the sole, remote purpose of pissing each and every one of you off in a manner that some would hail as epic... Just so that you would dedicate comments-

NO-

Debates-

NO-

Comment-capacity-breaking-essays on how exactly I went out of my way to hurt your sensibilities... But you were far too cunning, far more intuitive, far more inteilligle than a story written in part to cater to the readers of the manga category on Fiction Press for entertainment purposes...

... Oh God...

Why?! WHY DIDN'T I WAIT UNTIL I GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE TO WRITE MY SUPERHERO STORY?!??!!?

BEAUTIFUL. BEST FLOUNCE EVER.

Its bad that I whinced at It's all like, political and shit, and it's about the country of the Middle East, I knew it was just going to go bad and felt like I didn't need to read the rest of the links. I don't know if I should feel guilty or not about my base assumption that most people who live outside the region have a bad understanding of the Middle East.

Trillian's entry is just mystifying me. Is she in direct communication with that crap writer dude, and he's informed her that he is complaining to LJ's admins about the writers_guild? If so, what do either of them think that would accomplish?

'SOME PEOPLE WERE MEAN TO ME, DELETE THEM'

...Or is her post about something else entirely? (The 'some parents are really upset' line indicates as much. Whose parents, Alonzo's?)

I am older, better educated, and, arguably, a better writer than Mr ALONZO and yet I find the snarky comments on the original post much kinder than my own thoughts about my own writing when I'm editing with the benefit of distance in time.

Which, you know, may mean that older+better educated+self critical=better writer?

It could be so posited.

Damn, the Companion #1 one is teal deer. And fifteen kinds of stupid.

- This intro is capped off with perhaps the biggest change from previous drafts, Mira’s height. In accordance with my new “Anti-Fox” initiative, I’m really pushing for the creation of female characters that are anything but Michael Bay wet-dreams or at least have more than a single dimension. Mira wouldn’t fly for mainstream sensibilities because she’s an intimidating woman, I don’t envision her as being like an ogre or butch, rather an extension of the way Jack sees her, a precoscious and observant young woman that tends to overestimate herself. But some men are just put off ease by the idea of being emasculated or trumped in any degree, especially in height, by a female. Furthemore, to feature such a woman as a genuine character and not an overt sex object to be won (She's tall ergo her appeal would be for a love interest to tame her and mount her like a mountain!) s unprecedented in this day and age and I feel that this would make her a credible force to be reckoned with on-page and off-page.

She's not Megan Fox, but she's not butch. We can't let her get too unfeminine or unattractive.

I'm sorry but every time I hear anyone say the words "I, (name)" it just has to be followed by "being of sound mind and body," which in this case makes no fricking sense whatsoever. In context, anyway.

Or maybe he's channelling Mickey Spillane's "I, The Jury"?
