HOW DARE YOU CALL ME FAT
Mars from Chicken Dinner Candybar does her regular Fat Love Friday and includes Marie from Agent Lover.

Marie is put off by her inclusion on a "fat" list and tells Mars so.

Mars offers to take it down. Marie refuses. Instead, she proclaims on her blog, "oh haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaale no!

Chaos ensues in the comments about fatphobia, body acceptance, fashion sense (or the lack thereof), and kissing-up commentors.

Is Marie brave or is she overreacting?

(I'm in the comments and I know Natalie [the 'overreacting' link], so I am slightly involved in the wank aftermath. It's pretty obvious which side i'm on.)

But it is all part of the same problem--we've demonized fat SO MUCH that any person with the slightest hint of curves becomes terrified that it's happening to them. Weight is mixed up with sin somehow--dieting is virtuous, exercise is the modern equivalent of the santification behaviors of medieval monks.

I know I'm thinnish--but over the past couple of years, I've put on about 10lbs. (I hate exercise, my metabolism is slowing with age, and I was writing a dissertation.) Even though I put it on in the "right" places (ass and boobs), I still feel really insecure about it. I'm pro-fat acceptance, but GOD is it hard to make my beliefs line up with my media- and family-induced sense of OMG MUST LOSE WEIGHT.
