Wind; hear my cry!
Over on lj on [info]nonwiccanwitch a user asks At what point does "support" become "fostering delusions?>

The focus of the discussion quickly turns to whether or not one can control the weather.

Call me delusional, if you want to. I've seen folks control the weather

And as it turns out someone in a (now deleted, sadly) post thinks they can control the weather.

Is it okay to tell your children you can control the weather?

Maybe its just me, but this whole thing makes me want to go watch X-Men.

Unfortunatly some other deluded person actually believes, that I believe I can control the weather.

Personal Attack. I'm reporting you to the community maintainer now.

"You're deluded! And if you call me deluded, that's abuse and I'm telling the mod on you!"

I think that was more about protesting the mod being a lousy mod, which she's proven repeatedly to be by having different rules for different people (she gets to snark other posters, but other people can't) and by allowing trolls to troll and smacking down other people for objecting to a known and infamous troll saying really misogynistic and fatphobic shit. (It's one of the main reasons I avoid that comm, every time I see drama in there linked on my flist, the mod makes me cringe.)

I can control the weather. I can make it rain by leaving my car windows rolled down.

What a coincidence! I make it not rain by remembering my umbrella. Clearly we should have a rain duel.

I put a question like this to my abnormal psychology teacher, actually--he said that if there weren't any other weird symptoms and it wasn't interfering with normal life, it didn't fit the bill for mental illness. So there's that.

I was Wiccan for the better part of ten years, and during a heat wave, someone called me to see if I wanted to join in a big effort to break the heat wave. Now, far be it from me to think she was, perhaps, overestimating our abilities just a bit...but yeah. Rather than go into that, I just said, "I don't think it's a good idea to mess with the weather. It might screw up weather for someone else." That's as close as I get to diplomacy, really.

I went to a very earth-crunchy hippie seminary with a large Unitarian Universalist population.

Once one of my UU friends was walking across the quad and jokingly ordered the weather to change -- I think she wanted it to be warmer.

A professor heard her and, dead-serious, asked, "Do you believe you can control the weather in your tradition?"

Whenever I hear some dingbat practitioner go on about weather control, all I can think of is Belgarath reaming Garion about conjuring up lightning bolts, because he had to clean up the messes fucking with the weather caused all over the world.

I do this in lieu of facepalming and yelling at them to GTFO my religion.

...actually a fair bit of my magical education came from Eddings novels. This would probably explain a lot about me.

I used to be able to control the weather. True story: When I was 11, I could make it snow by playing "Reach For The Light" on my Balto CD. Which I did. Repeatedly. My childhood obsession with that movie in fact caused the blizzard of '96.

And now you all know the truth. It was me. It was all me. I am mighty.
