Wind; hear my cry!
Over on lj on [info]nonwiccanwitch a user asks At what point does "support" become "fostering delusions?>

The focus of the discussion quickly turns to whether or not one can control the weather.

Call me delusional, if you want to. I've seen folks control the weather

And as it turns out someone in a (now deleted, sadly) post thinks they can control the weather.

Is it okay to tell your children you can control the weather?

Maybe its just me, but this whole thing makes me want to go watch X-Men.

I was Wiccan for the better part of ten years, and during a heat wave, someone called me to see if I wanted to join in a big effort to break the heat wave. Now, far be it from me to think she was, perhaps, overestimating our abilities just a bit...but yeah. Rather than go into that, I just said, "I don't think it's a good idea to mess with the weather. It might screw up weather for someone else." That's as close as I get to diplomacy, really.

I would have suggested going to the beach or a pool.

Well, that would have been too mundane.

Fair enough. I've had to go through my fair share of arguments to explain "it doesn't work that way" to my fellow Wiccan friend.

Yeah. It's really just easier to frame it in a way people are willing to hear, sometimes.

I used to know someone who, on her very own lonesome, turned the course of tornado and dissipated it before it could destroy our house.
