Wind; hear my cry!
Over on lj on [info]nonwiccanwitch a user asks At what point does "support" become "fostering delusions?>

The focus of the discussion quickly turns to whether or not one can control the weather.

Call me delusional, if you want to. I've seen folks control the weather

And as it turns out someone in a (now deleted, sadly) post thinks they can control the weather.

Is it okay to tell your children you can control the weather?

Maybe its just me, but this whole thing makes me want to go watch X-Men.

WTF kind of Northwesterner are you, anyway?

LOL. My daughter carries an umbrella (sometimes, when she remembers, depending on what jacket she's wearing and how hard it's raining) and this specific question bugs her to no end. Apparently she gets the whole "natives don't carry umbrellas, what are you, new?" thing a lot.

I just laugh. And then I tell her to stop poking me in the head with her damn umbrella or I'll take it away, and then she'll have to be hardcore like the rest of us. Hood? I don't need no stinking hood! HA!

(She used to have a Hello Kitty umbrella when she was little of which I was desperately jealous, but it was far too small for me, alas. And then the Hello Kitty handle broke off.)

Aw, poor wee!pui! Meanwhile, I have to force my native-born spawn to put on a damn coat when it's below freezing outside and he has to wait for the bus.

I remember specifically being perfectly fine in only a windbreaker the week before Christmas break as a child in Eugene. Where did that imperviousness to cold go?

Yeah, I probably should've said depending on what jacket, if any. :(

The first year I lived here, I was astonished to see people wearing shorts and sandals in cold weather. I'm used to it now...but when they top all that off with a parka, I still have to giggle.

"natives don't carry umbrellas, what are you, new?"

Welcome to Oregon (or Washington). We don't tan here. We rust.

...well, that was a nice, clean Wacom.

Now it's very Chai-flavored. Thank you. :P
