True story: I once had a student send me a 2-page SCREED ranting about how unqualified and biased I was, because I failed to give his absolutely brilliant paper the credit was due, and there could be no way anyone else in that class wrote anything so brilliant, and he wanted to talk to my supervisor, damn it!

The grade?

An A-.

Some students have no sense whatsoever about basic manners and not acting like entitled douchebags in front of the people who give them grades.

I had a large lecture class with discussion classes lead by a TA. It was also a women's studies course.

There were some legitimate complaints about the TA I had; she shot people down in an inappropriate manner, though I agreed with her points, and some people had questions about her grading policy and the rate of agreement with her stances. She became a popular discussion topic among students, as will happen.

One guy decided to make a formal complaint about the TA and sent it out to the entire class roster for approval. The complaint? That the TA swore too much, focused too much on showing the class women's natural bodies, which he found "disgusting," and that he had studied for four hours for the final and thus deserved a higher grade than the one he got.

He got his ass *handed* to him, and approval of the TA shot up overnight.
