Yo Lysacek, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish...
Yevgeny Plushenko, Russian superstar, lost the Men's Figure Skating gold to Evan Lysacek last week. He's been throwing a fit ever since, including stepping on the gold medal winner's platform during the award ceremony.

Today, he took the whining to another level, and awarded himself the platinum medal.

ETA: Since I submitted this yesterday, Plushenko has denied having anything to do with the medal. Also, I must have linked to the boring article with no comments. Total writeup fail, guys. D:

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Plushenko himself say that the platinum medal wasn't an award *from himself*, but a joke coming from Russian media? If it's true, then the whole "platinum medal" deal would be just a small thing that it's been taken way out of context and/or blown out of proportion by American media - while trying to create a rivalry between Lycasek and Plushenko at any costs, painting one as an angel and the other as a commie monster.

As for me, this fanart says a lot. Oh, Hetalia fandom.

The American media doesn't have to blow anything out of proportion here. The guy is just being a huge 100% bonafide pure asshole whereas Evan has done nothing but be classy. Just reading their quotes is enough to show this, without any media spin on them.
