Yo Lysacek, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish...
Yevgeny Plushenko, Russian superstar, lost the Men's Figure Skating gold to Evan Lysacek last week. He's been throwing a fit ever since, including stepping on the gold medal winner's platform during the award ceremony.

Today, he took the whining to another level, and awarded himself the platinum medal.

ETA: Since I submitted this yesterday, Plushenko has denied having anything to do with the medal. Also, I must have linked to the boring article with no comments. Total writeup fail, guys. D:

I used to be a huge fan of Plushenko before this jackassery surfaced, and I actually found him to be a good balance of artistry and technical prowess. He was the sort of skater who I couldn't keep my eyes off of because he was just so darned interesting and expressive. YMMV, of course, and I might be being overly biased just because of the sheer unadulterated awesome win that was Sex Bomb.

Damnit, Plushenko, why did you have to be such an outrageous dick? ;_; Ah well, hopefully Patrick Chan will turn out well. ^_^

Adding that I don't disagree with you that his Vancouver performance wasn't really as artistic as it could have been, and that Evan did a better job on that end of things (though I thought Takahashi smoked them both out of the water. Holy crap, I want that man in ways that are not even remotely platonic).
