Seattle's delicate tastebuds
Seattleite [info]killthief is disappointed in Seattle's lack of chain restaurants.

[info]seattle is disappointed in her lack of taste; her appalling lack of taste.

Holy crap, what a bunch of elitist prickery. It reminds me of the time I bemoaned the fact that there are no Red Lobster in Vancouver and got my head ripped off for it. "OMG VANCOUVER HAS GREAT SEAFOOD RESTAURANTS!" Yes, and I go to many of them. Still doesn't satisfy my specific wish for Red Lobster. :(

They... do realize that just because a city has excellent local restaurants doesn't mean it can't have chain restaurants as well, and vice versa... right? And that people can like and enjoy both? I mean, I'm the type that has lunch at little locally owned places then washes it down with a McDonald's shake... am I doing it wrong?

Yes. Don't you know that as soon as the number of restaurants in a chain hits ten, everyone inside must immediately run out and find a new favorite place to eat? No exceptions!

I know, right? They have all these Red Lobster advertisements on Vancouver television but none in town; the closest one is in Calgary or something. -_-

Same here in New England! We used to have them, then they all closed down (many became BBQ restaurants that then closed down).

Sometimes, you just want CHEDDAR BAY BISCUITS!!

I see ads for Sonic drive-ins all the time, but I'd have to go to Hayward at least to get to one (I live in San Francisco), more than 25 miles. I don't drive in the first place, and when I am going on a car trip, that is rarely the direction I go in. (And going the way I normally do? Well, there's one in Gilroy, but that's a little out of the way considering our usual route.)

They advertize in Alaska, too, and there's no Red Lobster. Which I don't care about, because we do have Sea Galley, which is much, much better.

Red Lobster has the cheesy biscuits. THE CHEESY BISCUITS.

Do you think they'd provide take-out baskets of them if I tried to buy them? Because I fucking would.

YES. YOU UNDERSTAND.

Seriously, the biscuits alone are worth my hard earned money. How can people hate a restaurant that grants us such mana from heaven? :3

OMG. THERE ARE OTHERS BESIDES ME WHO WORSHIP THE CHEESY BISCUITS.

I DON'T GET TO EAT THEM OFTEN ENOUGH BECAUSE I'M MEH ON RED LOBSTER'S SEAFOOD ENTREES.

I CAN STILL TASTE THOSE. There's no close Red Lobster any more, so if we go somewhere with a Red Lobster we're 96% of the time going to go somewhere with food I like beyond THE CHEESY BISCUITS. But ooooh they are good.

THE BISCUITS ARE REALLY EASY

Simpleness:
Take some Bisquick
Add enough water to make it a bit sticky and hold the flour together
Throw in a ton of shredded cheddar cheese
Add a little garlic salt/powder
Toss those biscuits down on a pan

Melt butter
Add italian seasoning
Add garlic salt/powder
Spread that over the uncooked biscuits

Throw them in the oven at 400 degrees F

You can find more specific directions online, but that's basically it!

I have that recipe, but replace the water with milk. (And never, never, for the love of Batman, use the Reduced-Fat Bisquick unless you want something to play wall-ball with.)

I have never been to Red Lobster, but the comment hymns and the fact that I like cheese and biscuits have convinced me to try this. Possibly tonight. Thank you!

Thank you! I would love Red Lobster's cheesy biscuits, but they are too salty for me, so now I can make my own without so much salt. Yay!

Ooooooo! Thank you! I tried making them myself once (from scratch though; we didn't have any bisquick so I figured ehhh) and athough decent, they weren't magic.

What "italian seasoning" do you use, by the way? Is it a specific mix, or what?

I once said that, of all chain restaurants, I didn't know why the chain-restaurants-suck crowd always used Red Lobster as the example of the worst. You would have thought I had just showered Hitler, Pol Pot, and Stalin with flowers and unicorn love.

I always assumed it had to do with the hard-right-wing association of the franchise.
