Seattle's delicate tastebuds
Seattleite [info]killthief is disappointed in Seattle's lack of chain restaurants.

[info]seattle is disappointed in her lack of taste; her appalling lack of taste.

...whoa, I missed that. Complaining about fifteen minutes? It takes me fifteen minutes to get to the damn Outback and it's in the same city I am! Jesus.

The green thing bugged me too. Lookit me, I'm totes edgy because I'm bitching about Seattle being so GREEN.

I've been known to jokingly bitch about it being so green here in Wales. But that's because I grew up in Las Vegas. Where it's brown and dry. And Wales is green and very, very wet, most of the time.

Also grew up in Las Vegas... green places are _weird_! It's odd to have all of that wetness and plant-life in one place!

*snicker* Yes, Vegas is highly brown and dry. Got relatives down there.

The bitching is about Seattle being 'green' in the environmental context though. ZOMG lookit me I don't ride a bike or RECYCLE like you freakazoids. Yep. Totes edgy.

Mm, green and wet, my favorite kind of climate.

I hear ya. I get antsy when the scenery turns dull gray and brown, even when it's just the seasonal change.

Move to Japan. That pretty much describes the whole country.

I remember one family trip to the Southwest, we kept hearing everyone talk about how 'green' it was. I looked around and saw nothing but brown and red dirt. Sure, the bushes looked like maybe they had some new leaves, and there were a few flowing plants, but that was it.

I'm from Portland, Oregon you see.

I have done this, and I'm from Pittsburgh PA. Same thing, but my biggest one was when people talked about how hard it was raining.

My sister's hair didn't even frizz, and it's the type to frizz at anything. I think the weather channel said it was 15% humidity.

I'm from Texas. The very dry part, with the desertesque climate. We traveled to Portland once when I was little.

There were trees and grass! All so green. It blew my tiny little mind.

This is because there's no way to get to the Outback without driving on either Black Lake or Cooper Point, laden as they are with Capital High School students eager to spend their allowances.

Never ever ever go to the Outback on a Sunday. In addition to CHS students, you get the seething mass of humanity that is the Evergreen Christian Center's congregation either going to or getting out of services.

I basically stay away from everything west of the bay on Sundays, because on top of everything else there's the ripe possibility of hitting the coming-home-from-the-ocean traffic jam starting whenever people decide the weather isn't going to get any better.

The Market isn't west of the bay, though, it's right at the port. And will, perhaps someday, be IN the bay, along with all those new apartments and offices built on the liquifaction zone.

I was at the market yesterday and bought rhubarb from Pigman's; all is right with the world.
