	I'm sure my area has a million not-chain awesome restaurants, but every time I ask for recommendations in the washingtondc LJ comm, I get chain recs. Even when I specifically say please no chain restaurants, I eat in them all the time and want something different. Apparently it's asking too much for members of a city comm to read the damn post. 	I have to stop by Jenn's office tomorrow to pick something up anyway, I'll ask her. The margaritas were WONDERFUL. Yum. There's also VOLT but that's a) out in Frederick and b) a bit on the higher-end of the $$ scale. I have not eaten there yet, but I worship at the feet of Bryan Voltaggio and I have friends in Frederick so I'm scheming to make this happen. (Reply to this)(Parent)

Mexican or Tex-Mex is good, seafood, Italian, American comfort food... I'm more concerned about the seating, actually, I need armless padded chairs or a padded booth. Which is even harder to get recommendations about, since nobody remembers what the seating is like unless you actually have to. That's mainly why I stick to chains-- I know I can park for free and not have to walk a long way, I know what food is safe to eat, and I know that the seating won't leave me in screaming pain for hours afterward. I just wish I could branch out once in a while and try not-chain ones.

	Alas, I don't know about the seating, but I have: Marcel's (foggy bottom) Old Glory (georgetown) Cafe Atlantico (near chinatown; also, any other restaurant owned by Jose Andres) Lauriol Plaza (near dupont circle; she recommended the margaritas especially) This is just off to the top of her head. 	My dad lives in the D.C. area and is sort of obsessed with eating out, so I asked him for his recommendations. Sergio's in Silver Spring has awesome Italian food. Is there any particular area you're looking for -- in the city, a certain suburb? (Reply to this)(Parent)

	Zaytinya - Mike Isabella of Top Chef is Head Chef and even though he was a dick on the show, it's AMAZING. Turkish/Lebanese tapas. SO GOOD. (Reply to this)(Parent)
