Seattle's delicate tastebuds
Seattleite [info]killthief is disappointed in Seattle's lack of chain restaurants.

[info]seattle is disappointed in her lack of taste; her appalling lack of taste.

Y'know. I'm all for supporting local food. Hell, once I finally tried Buz and Ned's, I was a convert. But, in my experience, local food can be pricey. While I'd love to support those businesses, if I can't afford them, I have to settle for a chain or just eating at home with whatever was cheapest at the store.

And sometimes, I just have a craving for a TGI's Mojito and Potstickers. There isn't a single local place I've found (in Richmond, so flawed comparison) that makes mojitos. Or dim sum, but that's another wank for another day.

Also, I've noticed the same thing about mojitos. Other than TGIFs, Ruby Tuesdays also does them. I used to bartend there and then went local, and at the high volume Fan bars, I would imagine that their absence is due to a combination of the high food cost of keeping fresh mint on hand as well as the complication of the drink making process. I love them myself, but making them were (I don't bartend anymore) the bane of my existence.

Actually, try Nations. They're new and I think I saw someone drinking one when I was there a few weeks ago :)
