Yes, they actually use the phrase "Mean Girls"
Top ABC News Producer Leaving Network To Become High School Guidance Counselor! Isn't that nice? Cue a dogpile from everyone who has ever worked at ABC in the comment section. Jabba the Hutt is invoked at least twice; Snacky's Law is generally broken about every other comment, but given Mimi Gurbst's new job, that's not unreasonable, I guess. Oh, and also, the guy who wrote the story is bad and he should feel bad.

This is like when a country's embassy offers a condolence book for people to sign after a major disaster. Thank you, Mr. Gilette. You have provided a place for current and former ABC Newsers to congregate and give their best to Ms. Gurbst.

This article is an unusually atrocious example of spoonfed journalism and the writer should feel great shame--but that is another story.

The 'writer' of this article should be sent back to Highlights magazine where he belongs. How could he miss so entirely what was known to every employee of ABC News. Indeed, this syrupy eulogy is the ultimate insult to the countless hard-working journalists who were tortured by this woman. How ironic that she seeks to head back to high school to counsel youngsters! God help them!

Mimi and her clique of chosen ones at ABC News were dubbed the “Mean Girls.” To be a part of the group you had to be at least 3 of the following: white/good-looking/rich/pedigree/Ivy(or fancy boarding school) or date/marry/be associated with people who fit that bill.

Officially calling out Drudge and Deadspin. How much is ABC News paying you? What are they promising you to not link to this? There is NO way that you aren't picking this up. You went after silly ESPN executives for having an affair. This has the weight to be an article in the press. You will not find a person in the media who will go on record to defend Mimi because everyone connected with her knows the truth. This is almost too funny. But seriously - if this doesn't end up on Deapspin I will consider them traitors.

Live by the sword, die by the sword. Mimi wielded the sharpest of daggers during her long career but she backed the wrong side in the "anchor wars" of 2005-2010...and now (like Thomas Cromwell) she too must climb the scaffold.

Probably the best one:

Given the comment from Disgusted I will start my comment by saying I am neither bitter nor affected in any way by the recent events at ABC News. I sat at a desk outside Mimi's office for three years. The joke in year 1 was that I had a huge bottle of listerine on my desk for folks to gargle with after they were forced to lick mimi's ass for career safety. Year 2 I added a fake vile that said "Tetnus". Year 3 I wanted to add gasoline and matches for people to burn their clothes upon exit, but I didn't want anyone to get scared.

"This article is bad and you should feel bad." Seriously? Seriously?

Well, I'm just summarizing on that one, not a direct quotation. Unless it actually is. My eyes glazed over 2/3 of the way through.

No, you got it right (I went there and read the rest of the comment). I'm just amazed to see that familiar line appear, with only slightly different/fancier language, in a comment by an actual (alleged) professional journalist.

That's kind of awesome. If more companies had a place where you can give dirt on former coworkers, it would be so much more entertaining.

I believe the other ABC employees, but at the same time, some of the comments are so awesomely melodramatic. LIKE THOMAS CROMWELL, SHE TOO MUST CLIMB THE SCAFFOLD.

Yeah--when there's that much "independent" confirmation of the fact that the woman is a poisonous snake, it's hard to ignore.

But really. Jabba the Huttress?

And now I'm hearing "March to the Scaffold" from Symphonie Fantastique. It was bad enough that I had to play that for an entire summer--on a valved bugle, no less!

Highlights magazine: full of biased articles that spit on the hardworking proletariat.

white/good-looking/rich/pedigree/Ivy(or fancy boarding school)

Who does that sound like? Gallant. And his clique of chosen ones.

Goofus and Gallant always reminds me of my calculus class in high school. My teacher had a 4-year-old daughter who read Highlights, and he used to tell us that Gallant always showed what his limits of integration were, and what variable he was integrating with respect to. Goofus did neither of these things.

My teacher was adorable.

Year 2 I added a fake vile that said "Tetnus"

Oh for fuck's sake. I just cannot take people seriously when they make these kinds of errors. I wonder, did the "vile" on her desk say "Tetnus" for 2 years? Because that would be funny as hell, honestly.

Given that most of the insults lobbed by ABC employees are based on her gender and her weight, I'd say these aren't the kind of people who would notice it was spelled wrong. And if Mimi tried to correct the spelling, they'd all whine and complain and call her "Jaba the Hut" [sic] behind her back.

It took me a ridiculously long time to figure out what the hell that was talking about.

Also, wouldn't you want a VIAL that said "Vaccine" or something like it? That just sounds like you're handing out the disease (once one gets past the bad spelling).

I was assuming they meant 'tetnus' because you'd want lockjaw, to avoid saying something that would get you fired.

Wait, so you didn't actually have to be mean (or, for that matter, a girl) to be a Mean Girl? Strange.
