We put some time into rewrites, you should compensate me! I never charge young writers for advice or rewriting poorly written pieces, and have many who write for me... ALWAYS for free!
You know, assuming she's editing them for publication in her magazine, that's her actual JOB. I've been a magazine editor, I've done the same to pieces that came in needing work; did I charge the writers? No. That's what my salary was for. So, not free.
