Oh, that explains everything. This sort of insane overreaction? Totally normal for Dana. TOTALLY. NORMAL. She's one of the most crazy-grudgy-bitter people I've ever encountered on LJ; I used to read her journal for the trainwreck factor until it got too repetitive and depressing.
Years ago, Dana started a anti-F_W comm on LJ, back when Ginmar still got wanked on occasion. Ataniell93 had just left, and was frothing away in full-bore "OMG lashon hara, F_W is evil!" born-again Nice Girl mode. Neither Ginmar or Ataniell had anything to do with actually forming the comm, but since Dana was on both of their flists she decided that it was her duty to help battle the persecution and mockery her friends faced at F_W.
One of the requirements to join that comm was that prospective members be mutual friends with Ginmar, Ataniell, or both. Needless to say, that community didn't last long. I also remember her flouncing out of poor_skills and starting an alternative community that died very quickly.
So color me amazed that learning_french is still in existence at all, given Dana's complete inability to not go into a frothing rage at the slightest provocation.
