Oh, and one other thing--Dana created learn_french, and "maintains" it (however badly), but she has no proficiency with the language herself. Doesn't read it, doesn't speak it. She's of Louisiana Cajun descent, and has meant to learn French, but never got around to it way back when I was driveby-gawking at her journal--and evidently still hasn't.

Which sort-of explains why there is so much spam still on the comm, including spam pre-dating her vacation--she can't fucking read it to understand that it's spam in the first place. It's in French, a language she doesn't even know, so it just doesn't even occur to her that yes, it's spam, despite being in French.
