I'd like to offer a further apology for my post yesterday. I was angry, and I tend to get drama-queeny when I am angry, as some of you have had opportunity to witness in the past six years.

Unfortunately I'm not that good at editing out the drama-queeny, and I meant every word I said.

Also, I have had further developments that may affect the future of this community, Real Soon Now.

I got notification from my hosting service a little while ago that I've had an SMTP error, which means my response email to LJ Abuse will be delayed another 24 hours. I don't know what kind of deadline I'm looking at before maintainership gets handed over to whoever else. I emailed them again, and asked them to please respond so I will know they got it.

I'm giving them til 5pm and if I don't hear anything, this community will be deleted. It is now 2:33pm my time zone.

I am only warning you because 1000+ of you have managed to participate in this community for the past six years without trolling, drama, or politics. I appreciate every one of you and I'm glad you got some use out of this community. I hope you have enjoyed your time here.

But I will be taking this step because I can't imagine LJ Abuse will just hand over the community to any old body. Like as not, they'll hand it over to one of my little backstabbers. Who are probably new here, weren't aware that this community is six years old and don't give a fig that in all that time, when I have been aware of trolls causing problems here, I have taken care of every single one I've been aware of. And who didn't know or didn't care that I've had a procedure in place for probably over a year now for community members to report violations of the community rules. Which have also been spelled out, for at least as long.

If you don't like the way a community is run, start your own. If you're too lazy to start your own, get the hell off the Internet and go chase parked cars. Don't come into another community and start playing pointless power games.

I say this because in recent years, LJ Abuse has become quite responsive. I'm pleasantly surprised. You LJ veterans out there know exactly what I'm talking about, and you're nodding and smiling along. So I know that all those reports about me have been made within the past week. The email I received about the recent troll happened about a month ago.

I don't know who's got a stick up their butt, and I don't want to know. I don't know what made you decide now to start this garbage when it would have been more appropriate a month ago, and I don't want to know that either.

All I know is it's uncalled for. And stupid to boot. Especially when you forget who's got their finger on the Big Red Button.

So I hope you're happy. I'm sure you're ecstatic, since I have no way of knowing who you are and cannot get over 2000 people as angry at you as they will be at me.

And I'm still throwing you a freebie because I won't be looking at this community over the next two and a half hours, and if you feel moved to start your own learning-French community and invite people, and I wind up deleting this community, I won't ever see it.

But if I were you I'd consider my next move before I made it, because if I do hear from them by 5pm my time, I will look. And... maintainership will commence. And not in your favor.

I don't want to get any emails, comments, or other nonsense about this. I suppose I'll be apologizing for this post later. But I figure the chances of that are roughly the chances of the sun coming out at any point today. Even the weather is being a troll lately, it would seem. Oh well.
