Someone posts the usual rant. Except they have this odd icon people can't quite identify.

It turns out it's a graphic abortion icon. Surprisingly enough, most people aren't upset. However, the OP decides to slam on people anyway.

Looks like a troll, but still kinda interesting.

As I recall, the OP is the same guy who recently hit LJdrama for bashing a girl for her trich on a journal-review community. The wank is strong in this one, yes...

Of course, in the real world, people are smart enough to know that the fact that something looks gross in pictures has nothing to do one way or the other with the ethics of said thing.

They're also smart enough not to feed trolls.

Right? Right? *looks desperate.*

Well, exactly. I'm very pro-choice, and I'm still pro-choice. Doesn't mean I want to be hit with WHATEVER IN THE NAME OF SWEET FANCY MOSES was in that picture while I'm browsing journal entries, though.

First, yay Jem icon! Nice to see I'm not the only fan of old 80's cartoons.

Second I agree. I'm pro-choice, however personally I don't know if abortion is something I personally would be able to go through. However I still think that option should be open to women so that they can choose what they feel is best.

A female friend of mine put my position best: "I believe in a woman's right to choose, but I don't ever want to have to be that woman."

I contemplated diving in there and making comments to that effect (aesthetics v ethics) when I figured that the OP was just trolling, so didn't bother.

Yup. If we're going to make things illegal just because they look gross, that rules out most surgery.

Aw, cute! Your icon, that is.

Your logic isn't cute, just correct.

Why thank you!

Some people are disturbed by the little two-faced kitty, but he's not illegal, either.

Two faced kitty is far, far different from graphic abortion pics.

True. I'm not saying that what troll-boy is doing is ok, just that:

a.) since I'm pretty sure he is a troll boy, telling him it's not okay is unlikely to have the desired effect, and

b.) actual fundies who think that a bloody fetus picture is in some way equivalent to a coherent argument really boggle my mind.

I couldn't even tell what it was. It looked like worms. I'm wondering what the picture under "good luck on your surgery" was of.

Right-wing pro-life groups hire these big ol' 30-foot trucks and drive them around some parts of Los Angeles plastered on all sides with anti-abortion slogans and giant pictures of aborted fetuses.

I can tell you that is downright offensive and not at all pleasant on the freeway in rush hour.

And yet, you know that if someone was to use similar pictures to promote, say, a horror movie, they'd be the first to wail about the Children being all unwittingly exposed to that shit.

But exposing the Children to the gory side of reproduction (while bitching about *gasp!* sex education in schools) and turning the responsibility of childbearing into an angry guiltfest is okay... Yikes, I sometimes miss living in California, but I certainly don't mind missing that.

There's a 'Word!' in there somewhere.

Because there's no Moral (tm) to horror movies, y'know. :P

Y'know, I had an appendectomy once, but I don't make a habit of platering the gory results on bilboards anywhere. Seriously, what's the logic there? Surgical procedures are always ugly - so what?
