cinnamon and dough recipe (with apples)
This is from Ree Drummond's blog, but it is amazingly delicious.

YOU NEED:
- 1-2 granny smith apples, cored peeled cut into 16 pieces
- 2 tubes regular Pillsbury refrigerated crescent rolls
- like 2 sticks of butter, no skimping
- 2 cups sugar
- dash vanilla
- cinnamon
- ONE CAN OF MTN DEW. trust me on this omg.
(also a 9x11/9x13 baking pan)

METHOD:
- oven to 350°F
- roll each apple piece into one of the crescent roll triangles. make 2 columns of these in the centerish of the baking pan, which really needs to be greased up with one of those sticks of butter
- melt the rest of the butter in a saucepan
- add the sugar and vanilla, stir just until it's clumpy
- pour butter/sugar mixture over the apple rolls in the pan
- take your Mtn Dew and empty it down the sides of the baking pan (this is the coolest part, because of the way the carbonation and junk interacts with the melted butter/sugar)
- put cinnamon over top of your apple rolls, to taste
- bake for about 40minutes
- drain off some of the syrup if you want. otherwise, have at those suckers. crispy on top, gooey on the bottom, perfect served hot over vanilla ice cream.

the pioneer woman site calls these "apple dumplings". I call them "crazy delicious".

I can't eat cinnamon rolls for some reason, but these things? holy crap, I could eat them all day.
