That's not frosting on the cinnamon buns!
Since tetradecimal took the bullet for me, AND my finals are over, I bring you beautiful, wonderful, lovely Cinnabon wank.

Over on Bad Service unbrokenwings posts a recent story about running into a debit card minimum at Cinnabon while purchasing a drink. She works under hot lights and gets thirsty, and Cinnabon has the biggest, cheapest drinks. unbrokenwings usually only purchases drinks there because she has a wheat allergy and cinnamon buns make her want to hurl. Fair enough, right?

Well, sjaustin is not going to let that stand! How dare unbrokenwings go into a place that sells products she finds nauseating to buy other products she likes! Even after unbrokenwings says she finds most other places that sell food to have the same effect on her, sjaustin is still unrepentant!

I'm arguing with you because you're contradicting yourself all over the place. Slow day? No, it's called "lunch." Most people who work those cushy office jobs get a whole hour in the middle of the day to do with as we please.

Gosh, you would think the food at every place being nauseating would be more motivation for you to bring your own drinks. Maybe you're exaggerating just a bit?

darsynia tries to use logic, but it is of no use!

Dear God this is so beautiful, I think I might cry.

And then, to add a beautiful wank topping to the wank-cake, the wank is posted to SF_Drama and sjaustin shows up in the comments!

And then I dance around in circles because I know a wank like this mean CINNAMON BUN RECIPES IN THE COMMENTS AND ALSO I GOT 20 OUT OF 19 ON MY ENGLISH FINAL YAY!!!!

Thank you for this wank after the cascade of fail and boring shit lately.

This recipe actually came from Home Ec class in grade 8 and I love it. It makes kind of a cakey cinnamon bun rather than a bready one, which I prefer, and you don't have to wait for it to rise. Fast! Easy! Middle schoolers can do it! The only caveat is to not give into the temptation to increase the amount of filling since it will goosh out and burn everywhere in the oven.

Jiffy Rolls

Dough
-1 cup flour
-1 tbsp white sugar
-2 tsp baking powder
-0.5 tsp salt
-1/8 cup butter
-0.5 cup milk

Filling
-1/8 cup butter
-½ cup brown sugar
-1.5 tsp cinnamon

Preheat oven to 400F. Combine dry ingredients in large bowl. Add butter and mix with pastry blender. Make well in center and add milk. Knead and then roll into rectangle 1 cm thick and 30 cm across. Spread filling mixture on dough and roll up. Cut into equal slices. Place in muffin cups. Bake 20 to 25 minutes. Makes 6.

That's more like a cinnamon biscuit, from the look of it - but still tasty.

The texture is kind of like a biscuit now that you mention it.

It's the butter/oil that does it. If you wanted a bread texture without making the yeast dough you could try for fluffy pancakes doused in brown sugar and cinnamon sauce maybe? I dunno if soda bread would be a good idea, what with the sourness.

I think soda bread sounds delicious, personally, but I have a weird palate.

Well, soda bread on its own, yes, but mixed with cinnamon and brown sugar? I dunno. Someone should try it - for science!

It's been a long, long, time since I made this but I think this particular soda bread would work nicely with cinnamon and brown sugar:

MaryAnn Henry's Super Soda Bread

4 c flour
1/2 c sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
3 c dark seedless raisins (optional)
1 Tbls caraway seeds (optional)
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 1/4 c buttermilk
1 c sour cream

Mix dry. Mix wet. Combine.
Knead sparingly, like biscuits.
Bake 350° for 65-70 minutes.

Concise directions are concise, but hopefully sufficient. I always leave out the raisins and caraway because I just plain don't like them.

If anyone tries to cinnamon roll this soda bread let me know how it works out. :)

I think I will try this (but no rasins or caraway, either).

I made these! They were delicious. I assumed the butter in the filling was supposed to be melted (it didn't hold together too well when I tried it otherwise). I had to add a wee bit extra flour as the dough turned out too sticky, but that may well have just been down to me getting mixed up somewhere converting the "cup" measurements to grams.
