I'm glad to know about this for the blog itself. I'm timidly branching out into my own writing, but I'm also the literary manager for a theater company -- and as such have seen some DOOZIES of cover letters over the years.
(My favorite was one I stopped reading after three sentences -- granted, that third sentence was, "and of course, Cardinal Richelieu is played by a sock puppet.")
