Its the multiple community, sockpuppets are like, the point
Do you know about multiples/plurals? They are a group of people, or perhaps a group of groups of people who believe that they have many minds or souls sharing one body. But don't say they have DID, or mention alters, this is "healthy" [info]multiplicity! The kind that basically comes from spending too much time role-playing.

Now days, the multiple community keeps most of its drama behind closed doors. Drama that usually has to with the people who don't have Sephiroth in their system looking down on those who do, or incessant bitching about who is just pretending, and who actually needs to get some psych help because they really aren't pretending, while the rest of the community is probably only pretending to not be pretending. Its a big old pretend-fest.

But yesterday, some wanker decided to air their wank in public for all to see! They created a journal where all multiples could post anonymously and bitch about the other multiples they hated.

And thus, Pluralanon was born! 100+ comments of bitching, backstabbing and circlejerk.

Its especially funny when the uninivated rest of the community shows up.

And its entirely possible that there were only 2 real live participants, with the rest of them being imaginary!

ETA: Original thread is now deleted, but they are back in a new one in Glorious Technicolor.

When I say "homeworld" I don't mean "home planet". I mean "home universe".

Let's take for example... uh... Barbie and Ken. Sure. Barbie and Ken are happily living somewhere, in some alternate universe, as a happy married couple. But someone on this ... plane of existence, this universe, (let's say her name is Jennifer) connects with Barbie, and a bond is formed. Then, Barbie gets pulled out of her home universe over this connection. Which sucks. a lot.

Barbie is brought here, to live in this person's system. This isn't something either Barbie or Jennifer wanted or tried to do, but it happened just the same.
We can only hope that Barbie's home universe isn't moving along without her - that things are kind of "on pause" as it were. Maybe when Barbie gets home, somehow, someday, it will be like nothing ever happened at all, and maybe even she won't remember it?

But Barbie is still married to Ken! It's just... Ken isn't with her anymore.

...I...this...is fucking crazy I, what. I.

I.

And why doesn't anybody ever get yanked over into Barbie.

I made a friend who is also part of the plural/multiplicity/SBing communities here. She's a great friend and a nice person, but recently I started talking to some of her headmates too... and I think she's faking the whole thing. They ALL type the same way, use the same txt speak abbreviations, and have the same tone. And as if there needs to be more fuel thrown on that fire, it seems like she soulbonds half the cast from every show she watches, and while I'm pretty unsocial and haven't talked to many soulbonders, that last bit raises a lot of red flags for me.

Isn't this what they all do? They're all doing it wtfff.

The thing that gets me about that first conversation is the tone of "how can you not understand this? You're so weird for not believing that there are people in your head from other universes!"

Ignoring the actual crazy point, didn't Mattel have Barbie and Ken break up a few years back? I'm sure I remember people wanking about it.

I'm living in fear now. At any moment, a portal could open up above me and suck me into the empty plastic head of a Ken doll.

In a way, we should be grateful to these people. They're our front-line troops in the fight against interuniversal kidnapping; the more people they suck up from other universes, the fewer people there are in those universes to possibly suck up one of us. You civilians don't understand the risks these brave people go through; every time they open up a connection (which I can't stop visualising as an interdimensional straw now), they might get sucked down it the wrong way! If you're calling them crazy, you're supporting interuniversal terrorism!

Let me get this straight. They're fictional characters, pulled from their homeworlds to this enclosed space where they can interact with each other and sometimes with us in the real world, but never get back home?

These people aren't soulbonders. They're jamjars.

Hahaha.

When I started university, I met a lady(? I think, I'm not sure how she identifies now) who was a member of [info]multiplicity, I think! Or another one. It was amazing. She was a reincarnated Alexander the Great (and how many of those do you think there are out there?) and some Greek god and also a blue creature, I forget what. I used to think she was batshit, but she was nice to me and we otherwise had similar interests, so I played along. But omg, the things she would say.

I checked out the comm when I saw it on her userprofile, and then I had to back away from it. I haven't gone back since, and I was a little bit relieved when our paths split after a year or two and I stopped encountering her on campus... So much crazy. Nice person, but crazy and lots of drama.

And sure enough... the people who don't have Sephiroth in their system looking down on those who do

I dunno. After reading that Genimi comic, I almost feel bad about mocking them. I can completely understand that there are people in real life that have multiple personality disorder and are trying to cope with it by "accepting" their alternate personalities. Then on the web they have to deal with people pretending like they have the same mental disorder but that their alternate personality is Charizard or Legolas. The whole thing makes me too sad to laugh at.

On the other hand, this:

Anon 1:
I'm faking it. Totally, totally faking it. I thought people would be able to tell, eventually, and would call me out on it. But they haven't. I'm careful. I only have a few people in my "system" and I make sure we're all different. I've got a lot of friends who believe me, too.

Anon 2: the rest of them are faking it too, bb

that's why it seems like they're "not able to tell"

why do you do it?

Anon 3:
I did it because I was really bored, and I wanted to see if having a less boring system would get me more friends.

Anon 1:
At first it started because all my cool friends were getting into soulbonding a few years back, so I wanted to join in. (None of them are there now, though. They got real tired of it, real quick.)

I kept going because people seemed to like me better if I was pretending to be one of my "headmates". Now I think nobody would ever care about me without my fake system, and I really care about some of my friends, so I just keep doing it.

Anon 4:
Just pretend whichever one of you headmates is the most popular is the "real" you! Viola, problem solved.

... My sides... they hurt from laughter! Oh Gods, that's gold right there!

From here:

Jesus, if your headmates exhibit dangerous behavior and endanger yourself and others, hold a fucking intervention. Prevent them from fronting at the very least, or send them to therapy, or do some fucking thing. What would you do if a family member or friend turned violent or self-destructive? Sit back and say "it's not me, omg, it's not me!"? No you'd fucking help them. Call the goddamn astral cops on that fucker's ass.

CALL THE ASTRAL POLICE!

(And now I have the chorus of "Dream Police" by Cheap Trick echoing in my brain. Argh.)

But what do I know, I only got thrown into a wall & have permanent joint damage after the primary fronter refused to believe her headmate had threatened me and meant to make good on his threats.

Um, they do have police on this Third Dimensional Earth Plane thingy that you can call to file assault charges, you know.

I find myself wondering... At what age do people usually realize that "soulbonding" and having a bunch of fictional characters living in you is a phenomenal load of horseshit? I don't think I've seen a soulbonder past the early 20s (but I'm sure there are a few 30-some moms out there who believe Snape is helping them rear their children). I guess the concept of imaginary friends gets appealing again around high school/college when you have to start accepting adult responsibilities.

As a result in the growth in our world progress, we now are able to go anywhere we wish, for a reasonable price too. Some do it to make a profit, other just like to travel for no apparent reason. Do we really need a reason? Why not just travel without a cause. It can only bring joy to those who have learned to appreciate the moment.
