"Kitty does WHAT?!"
On [info]cat_macros, someone posts a gross but amusing macro of a cat crapping in a toilet. LOLs are had, as is a discussion on how one would train a cat to USE a toilet. And then...

[info]amigoid: DO NOT WANT
Not funny. Not appropriate.

Okay, so she's grossed out by poop, she's hardly the first person to

Flagged.

Yes, flagged. [info]amigoid was apparently so traumatized by the sight of a cat taking a shit that s/he flagged the post.

Did I miss something in LJ's TOS/flagging policy about cat crap? Seriously, how's cat crap suddenly up there with hardcore pr0nz and dirty words and violence?

Mod kittydoom changes the community settings to Adult Concepts, the members pet her and tell her how wonderful she is while eyerolling at the OMG CAT CRAP IS TRIGGERING mentality, and [info]origamicage flounces.

Wasn't there a time when cat macros were a response to drama and not the cause of it? XD

I'm really boggling over the tags on that mod post. Dr. Who? What now?

amigoid seems to be a dude in big boy pants. And he was just using his free speech by flagging that cat poop.

Damn. Is it that hard to say "when the dogs take a crap"? Verbally drop trow doesn't even make sense.

I'm not getting [info]origamicage's flounce. "I'm not flouncing over the cat poop, but *flounce*!" What? You're flouncing over something else, but you thought you'd let the comm know you're leaving? K'thx!

I'm just boggling over the fact that s/he thinks cat macros are "supposed to be" kid-friendly. Yeah, SOME are pretty general/safe for work, but plenty of them have sex jokes, pee jokes, etc.

I think they're flouncing over the rape wank from a couple of days ago, and the fact that some commenters are using the poop wank as an excuse to continue mocking the concept of triggers. That's how I read it, anyway.

There's something about [info]amigoid that is super annoying to me. I'm not usually tempted to troll the wank -- AND to be clear I haven't and won't troll this one either! -- but the fact that he flagged a pooping cat makes me want to mock him mercilessly.

FOR EXAMPLE:
Scatological humor is not what I like so in the spirit of free speech I thought it was okay to say when I was offended. I've got my big boy flame retardant pants on so if you aren't big enough to take some criticism, then maybe you shouldn't drop bombs like that, figuratively speaking.

SWEET KITTY JESUS. Flagging a post over cat poop is (a) NOT TYPICALLY ASSOCIATED WITH "FREE SPEECH" and (b) the very definition of lacking big boy flame retardant pants!

Why do people think that free speech gives them the right to say whatever they want, but somehow magically doesn't apply when someone wants to say something right back to them? Like, just for example, how they're being an IDIOT.

Okay, so, here's the thing:

YES, it is okay to say that you were offended by something.

But when you FLAG it, that's you trying to get something that you find offensive banned. You're saying that NOBODY should see it.

The first pertains to free speech.

The second is an attempt to engage in censorship.

LEARN THE DIFFERENCE.

In fact, my kitty was so ill for such a long time that now, when I see solid cat poo, I don't think "ewwww," I think, "yay, that's a healthy cat!" [/thoughts on cat shit]

If cat poop is triggering I don't want to know what horrors this person has lived through. I think we all need to be a bit more sensitive. They could have been forced to clean out one of those houses on Hoarders. That would be enough to give anyone nightmares.

Seriously, cat scat is gross, but it's not that gross. My cat doesn't eat his. My dog definitely does. I cannot imagine this delicate little flower's response to a hypothetical macro of that.

Offensive macros are funny when they are well made, but something that says "LOL I'MMA RAPE YOU" or whatever does not fit that category. I don't think misogyny is funny.

Yes, [info]viiltohaava, because rape is always men raping women, and always for reasons that can only be classed as misogynistic, as opposed to power dynamics, wanting to fuck someone who doesn't want to be fucked, etc.

(Maybe s/he didn't mean it that way, but that's how it came across.)

Man, this person would never have been able to get on living on a farm.

I promise you, poop is a part of our daily lives. Especially when you have a lamb living in your house over the winter because it needed special care and heat lamps. Lambs? Are not cute. They shit. A lot. Everywhere.

My parents used to have a cat that actually DID use the toilet. Of course this was back in Russia where the flush operation was slightly different, and there was a lot of dry space for the cat to sit.
The cat would then bat at the toilet flusher, and mew loudly, demanding somebody to come flush for him.
