Thankfully, he's retiring at the end of his term, but he's from Arizona so I have this horrible fear that someone even more conservative is going to replace him. *worries*
On the comedy side, though, I have to say that I loved the CNN guy's reaction when he read the statement, because you can totally tell that only his professional integrity was stopping him from following it with "Can you even fucking believe this shit?" And the Twitter meme has been brilliant; Colbert's have been genius, of course, but I think my favorite so far has been the non-Colbert "Jon Kyl throws babies at the elderly."
