If I were published, I would avoid all that stuff. No googling myself, etc. -- some people can take it, and that's great for them, but random internet hate isn't something I think I could handle, unless I was making JKR money. (Or, for that matter, random internet love that was totally weird and off-base.)

But yeah, this was obviously not random internet hate, it was just someone who didn't like the book, and the author's response was way way off. It sounded like she'd never been criticized in her life, and that she was shocked -- SHOCKED! -- to find that anyone could ever say anything negative about her book.
