In SMeyer's defense, with Midnight Sun...wasn't that something she didn't mean to see the light of day at the time anyway?
Not that she isn't thin-skinned, it's that it was a bit more complicated than people mocking her twu woobie Edward and taking her toys. (And, to be honest, I thought it was better because Eddie himself was creeped out by sneaking in Bella's window.)
