I didn't really think about my comment before posting it. I know there are some good YA romance writers out there :).
What I was trying to say was... how much bad is there? Well, 90% of everything is crap. So if someone who likes YA romance isn't lucky enough to find the good 10%, and then they find Twilight, it could very well be one of the best books they've ever read. And if they're used to writing like Halpern's, Twilight will seem a masterpiece of realistic dialog, character, and action.
