I think my Kaweco Sport is my favorite pen--super smooth, and a twist cap so not as much worry about leaking. It's way nicer than my Lamy. Both of those are in the $20 range, but I also have a bunch of Platinum Preppys and Pilot Petit1s that I picked up at a Japanese bookstore, which are $4 each and write quite smoothly.
