Common thought, or COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT ZOMG? Regardless, it's dumb.
Don't think this qualifies as fandom, so OTF_ it is.

Blair is the blogger/proprietor of STFU, Parents, a user-generated blog that culls parents oversharing on Facebook. It's been around since February '09. (Featured on this comm last August.)

She posted on Facebook this morning about a slapped-together article on msn.com, "15 Things Moms Overshare on Facebook", with obviously fake statuses. (Statii?) STFUP blurs out last names, but the msn.com examples have no space for last names, and I'd like to see a real baby announcement (#5) with zero likes on it.

While Blair is very upset about this, her readers are extremely mixed. 250+ comments so far, fairly evenly divided between "call a copyright lawyer, down with this sort of thing" and "it might be a coincidence, I missed the part where you are the only one who can do this sort of thing". Blair in the comments as well, getting snotty as time goes by, which is always fun.

"I never said anyone has to agree with me. But I would never tell someone whose page and blog I read for free that they're "whining" over a corporation stealing ideas. That's rude and unsupportive." [cite] (I personally would have thrown in a "buy my book!") "I do not have a monopoly on the concept of mocking parent overshare with biting criticism. I invented the concept. If someone steals my exact ideas, that's stupid. I am allowed to be annoyed about it." [cite] "Does calling me a foolish whiner have a purpose? Or are you just trying to hurt my feelings? Just checking." [cite]

And to hit the Bingo, there's definitely a bit of deleting going on in the comments. (Marshall Lilly who?)

Good times.

Well there's some internet lawyering in there,
some "pasted on is teh fakes" in there,
more cries of "Fakes" with a solid side of MSN sucks,
also the "GET OVER IT" bits(this never goes over well, believe me I tried it in the Ship Wars in the HP Fandom"),
some "you're actually not the first at it,"
Oh and STFU, Parents delivers a rally cry:"I'm just going to say this once: If you support a website and a blogger, and you say things like, "This isn't a rip-off," or, "You're not the first person to come up with this idea," you're not ACTUALLY supporting the site or the blogger. These examples were fabricated based on my blog. That is an infringement of intellectual property. Period. I post articles - ORIGINAL articles - about overshare all the time. And PS: Lamebook and Failbook came along after STFU, Parents, for anyone who's curious. The last time Failbook posted a submission on its site that was on my site, I had it removed. If we don't stand up for our intellectual property, what's the point of standing up for anything at all?" (I had to quote he/she/it in full because we can't link to individual comments on Facebook...can we?)

Well anyway, yeap, nice full blown wank, but its nothing we haven't seen before, can we sue her for not being original in he/she/it's wankiness???

I am starting the realize why this person hates hearing/reading about kids so much. She can't stand the completion...

I hate plagiarism and all, but holy shit.

I really didn't think there'd be a bigger lolyer fail than the lawsuit between Dr. Amy and Gina (the memo in support of the motion carries the faint odor of wet dog...) BUT APPARENTLY I WAS WRONG.

Did RDR publish a set of law textbooks while we weren't looking?

Don't the posts she's reprinting wholesale from other people count as "intellectual property"?
