He has no problem praising good food. There's an episode from one of UK seasons (Mama Cheri's Soul Food?) where Gordon cleaned his plate when he tried their food. His only criticism was that they froze it.
You see his praising a lot more on shows like F-Word* and MasterChef.
*In fact, watching this show taught me one of his "tells" when he likes a dish. If he's standing, he'll sorta wiggle/pace-in-place by shifting his weight from one foot to the other rapidly. He also kinda tenses up like a kid given candy. It's actually pretty funny to see him squirm like a boy who's just gotten his favorite sweet. If you're curious, watch the episodes about the "Best Local Restaurants" he did. His delight in what they produce is obvious.
