*snort* I'm pretty positive they don't have health insurance. The new health care legislation exempts small businesses with under 50 employees from being required to supply health insurance for their workers and these employers don't strike me as the kind to do their people a good turn and actually offer health insurance (and at any rate I'm pretty sure that proviso doesn't even kick in until next year anyway). In some states in the US, restaurants are required to pay their servers at least the state minimum wage (the one I live in falls into that category) but elsewhere they can get away with the let's-pay-you-shit-and-pretend-tips-make-up-for-it business. It's a raging crock of bullshit, the whole mess.
