And they know people working in low-paying jobs in the service industry often don't even know their rights in the first place. In the last job I worked at (not food service, Gamestop), there was a sign in the break room telling us, among other things, that if we reported them for anything, they could fire us. This is not unusual -- OfficeMax had a similar sign when I worked there. Body Shop and Publix both had the opposite, with signs that informed workers of their rights. But when you've got mostly teenagers and college students working for minimum wage for you, you can get away with all sorts of shit.

Oh, and back in like 1997, the Disney Store wanted me to sign a 50-ish page document that gave them the rights to absolutely anything I created while I was working at their retail store. The assistant manager got all pissy because I insisted on reading the whole thing. I decided not to work there because wtf.
