Is this a fandom?
The US is preparing to reinstate the draft. The commenters are not pleased. Someone named 'Michael' says the writer of the article writes 'hate-bush-left articles'. Someone that calls himself/herself 'Nazi Punks' joins in... it's a real mess. It de-grades to picture posts... god, the migraine.

Here's my favorite post of them all:

MTV it's runed by jews who want all races to mix while they remain pure, that's why you have a lot of negros in videos...im not a racist pig or anti multiculturalism but their double moral is irritating: Sorry kid I have not heard on MTV that’s it’s ok 4 whites and blacks 2 have children or that Jew need to mare only Jews amen have hear that shit on TY at all?? = 1’s “dear Jews don’t marry pagans because you are Jew and the are not thx 4 you Jew attention”(ps yes you are if you hate Other races than you are racist )

shitty movies like schindler's list : why is it shitty?? Because 1 German sad that you can go fuck yourselves I well not kill these ppl besides = if its not true its still shows a WWII times and the sociology of the ppl in that time

think about it, jews have a monopoly on the media and the media has a monopoly on the people. read "protocols of the elders of zion"

I haven't quite figured out what that means, just yet.

Edit: My concept of English grammar has gone down the drain.

Are we talking about the same MTV here?

I wasn't aware that MTV showed videos anymore.

MTV2 does, but they pushed the video for "Megalomaniac" by Incubus (bad band, eh song, AMAZING video) to after 10pm, so they're dealing with the Juno hate at the moment. Which will stay in place until the first time I see the new Strokes video on there (Albert Hammond, Jr and the guitargasm. Gotta love it.)

Ah. See. I don't get that. Well, school might, but I have enough problems trying to figure out local channels there that most of the time, I give up.

I know that home-cable-wise, we definitely don't have MTV2. I get MTV, VH1 and CMT and that's it.

Ah, gotta love people flying off the handle about teh eeeevul military.
For one thing, just because they're preparing for the possibility of a draft doesn't mean the draft will be reinstated. We've still got a very, very good level of volunteers going into service, so it's not that big a deal... that's if this is TRUE, which I'm kinda "eh" at.
(Besides, I'd be willing to bet good money that at least 80% of the people throwing fits over the possibility of a draft would be judged ineligable after a medical exam. c.c)

*headdesk* Sky falling much over there, on both sides?

That bill was introduced as a *protest*, over a year ago, by congressmen who were anti-Bush and anti-war. Its sponsors don't even expect -- or want -- it to go through, let alone anyone else. It was introduced to try to kick some sense into the war-supporting legislators of the time, by bringing home the idea that under those rules, their own kids and grandkids could well be pressed into service. It's ridiculous and over the top for a reason.

Ahhhh. I thought it a bit strange that it would include women in the draft; didn't seem like something the traditional conservatives would include.

They actually went on to say something like "We're taking women this time, and the first pair of letters are going out to a certain pair of twins..."

Wow. o.o; That's on a level of wankiness I'd expect from one of the screaming teeny-Sue writers. Hell, that's something like I'd expect queenmadeline to say.
"I don't like you! I'm gonna get your kids killed!"

A few months ago I saw an article in my local paper looking for volunteers for the local draft board and my reaction was, "WTF is this shit?"

I'm glad to be pointed in the right direction with this - I was wondering where it was coming from. Now I know where to look for documentation.

There was something about the reinstatement of the draft that just didn't sit right with me. It just seemed so tin-hat...ish. People are still talking about it, though.

My local politicians are such boobs. I swear, put big floppy shoes and funny red noses on them, and they would start looking for a little car to squeeze into.

Can't say that somebody or other hasn't decided to actually run with it, mind you, because *lots* of politicians are in the market for tiny cars to squeeze into. But that particular bill that mentions Bush's insisting on going to war in a negative light, then goes on to suggest the draft, I remember that being discussed on LJ in an admiring way, when it first showed up. It's not some stealth thing that Bush's people have put through behind everybody's backs, the way this article tries to make it out to be.

I think what's wigging people out is that there's that combined with the whole advertising for people to staff draft boards awhile back. Also, there are a lot of people who grew up with stories about Vietnam and the draft, but who have no idea how it actually works.

But I'll just make plans to hide my little brother anyway. Meep.

Yep - And there are people who are still around who grew up with World War II floating in the background.

What really gives me pause was it was the GOP that was calling for the volunteers. When I thought it was a GOP engine, it made sense. Now I am wondering why.

It's an election year. It's gonna get wacky. Like the Crispie-Fried-Bible-Wackers aren't wanking enough with the Gay and Lesbian marriage thing.

And it's gonna get wackier.

Rove is going to pull out all the stops if election time draws near and George Agustus Caesar isn't ahead in the polls by a landslide.

When I first heard about it I thought it sounded odd - Like it was posturing or something. I didn't think it was people on the left side of the aisle trying to dredge up Vietnam. Though that makes perfect sense.

It was believable only because Bush has pulled the trick before, like all other Presidents. The difference is that Bush some sort of Viagra-War-Boner that just won't go down no matter what he does to it.

It's wankiness all around from what I can see.

I pretty much ignored it until I saw the article in the newspaper that got the locals in a tizzy. The pols who were asking for volunteers were from the GOP. You would have thought they would have been informed a bit better, huh?

I wish everyone would just shut the hell up and look at the facts. Maybe try looking at things logically instead of letting their knees jerk all over the place.

*dons tin-hat*

I'm a dreamer, I know.
