Yet more mock_the_stupid spooge!
herewiss13 makes the mistake of using the phrase "While creationism is so stupid in general that it's barely worth mentioning..."

Whoops.

Stupidest comment on the whole thread found here:

"Yeah, but you can use facts to prove anything remotely true."

Uh, you do know that's a quote from the Simpson's, right? Appropriately, from an episode where Lisa finds a winged skeleton, and the entire town automatically assumes it's an angel.

There... are... people who don't watch the Simpson's? And not just the shitty new episodes, but all of them? *geekboggles*

But, yeah, that line would be confusing if you didn't know the reference. It was actually one of my favorite sarcastic quips for a few years, because of that.

Afraid I'm another cultural heretic. Never had any desire to watch them, and never have. I won't say never will, because in that case I will likely end up watching one.

I don't know, I think this might actually be the dumbest response. "We can't have our kids thinking independently!" I think he's out of luck on not exposing his kids to gross stupidity.

Pet peeve: would people who can't think KINDLY not use Science to support their pet beliefs???

Oh for fuck's sake, why do people feel the need to tweak science to support their faith-based beliefs? You believe such and such a thing, it's your religion, FINE, but don't go all psycho and turn into some insane conspiracy theorist about how everyone who disagrees with you and has done research to try and prove it is patently wrong or evil or some such. I have a ton more respect for people who can just say "yeah well, I believe such and such because it's part of my faith, but I cant prove it and I'm okay with that" than these whack jobs who are trying to conclusively prove their religion to be infallible.

Besides, isn't the essential point about faith that it's /faith/ and not something you can have conclusively proven? That's the power of it, it's something you just believe because you feel not because you have seven thousand years of fossil records shoved at you or something.

Yeah... but I think the wankers here are the people who are mocking the people who dare to think that creationism is a viable option? The OP said that anyone who supported creationism must be stupid. The people who disagreed seemed intelligent and reasonable enough to me.

I am definitely not for creationism being taught in schools. But I'd like a major part of my religion treated with respect? I mean, if I said it were ludicrously unscientific for Buddha to do any one of his miracles in a public forum, then said those who believed it were obviously stupid, I'd hope reasonable people would flame the hell out of me.

I am not stupid just for having beliefs about God and the world that directly oppose yours. Sorry. Anyone who says different can kiss my pasty ass Wank Jesus Icon.

Oh yeah, wank is on all sides on this one. Faith is essentially seperate from science, and that's mroe than fine, and there's no reason for either side to get the attitude that the other side is moronic or something. Gah, where are all these high horses coming from and how do we get rid of them?

Well, the one person has a faith-based belief that includes scientific facts. I don't think it is tweaking facts of science to fit beliefs so much as it is tweaking beliefs to include facts of science.

And honestly, it's better than those that completely disregard things proven in science because they don't fit their beliefs.

Yeah, I suppose it is better to acknowledge that one's beliefs are still existing in the same reality the rest of us are living in, but I suppose it just makes more sense to me to let them coexist in a sort of state of philosophical detente.

I know one of the people involved (roukzeptea23). I always knew it she would make one of the drama communities, but I always thought it would be for whining about people stealing her icons. I mentioned this to my husband, havelock. Thus, we have this.

Just a humorous side note to the drama.
