Sigh. Rachel usually has better arguements. She's not a whiny little bitch, really, but yes, she could have handled her side better. Personnaly, I'm inclined to agree with what the place did. If homosexual marriages are illegal, but you don't want to discriminate, then it stands to reason that you should ban hetersexual marriages as well. No, not because I - or them - think that marriage should be illegal, but because it will help homosexual marriages. 'Cause if the place refuses to discriminate, and 9/10ths of the country likes their right to marry, then they are going to have to let homosexuals marry as well. Plus, it gives hetersexuals out their a feeling of what it is like to be denied something they've taken for granted, which might spark some empathy. I predict that in a short time, this will resolve itself and everyone will have a right to get married. Hm...is it too wanky if I post this over at Rachel's post? I don't want to fuel the fire, but it's just that I can really see where the place is coming from.

The OP wasn't exactly exuding maturity, but if [info]fandom_wank has taught me anything, it's that you can still be bitter over what that mean girl said to you when you were fifteen because she was a popular bully/a jealous loser when you're forty, and let it govern all your social relations from then on.

The reason I deleted it was because it was no longer a discussion, but a collection of gasoline and matches. When something ceases to be debate and turns into nothing more than personal attacks, I think it deserves to be deleted.

You ... really haven't been hanging around FW long if that surprises you. I recently saw FW described as "a place where the civil conversations are conducted at the ends of chainsaws dipped in napalm." If I had the capability, that would be an icon. That is why most of us frequent it.

Why do you think that you are you arbiter of What May Be Discussed? Deleting a thread when it does something you don't like will be perceived as cowardice, no matter what your real intentions in doing so. That's why this is wanky. That is why we mock.

Well. Our natural psuedo-intellectual elitist cuntness is also why we mock, but that's pretty much a given.

Now I'm curious--were you around when fw had that mod meltdown when one of them started to delete posts s/he thought weren't wanky? *That* started a major sh*tstorm because most of the members--*including* the other mods-- don't want posts to be deleted, irregardless of perceived wank level. "Thou shalt not delete" is practically one of the top three Commandments of fw.
