I made it to page 6 before I started skimming any post longer than three paragraphs. Jargon gives me brainache.

Seriously, it's a bit of a peeve when the term "feminism" gets appropriated by a narrow range of feminists, who then get to use the term at their convenience to mean (a) people who agree with them, (b) all feminists, and (c) all women.

That goes double for "men's rights" advocates, the majority of whom definitely do not speak for me.

I'll never be entirely sure exactly what this argument is about, because I am never, ever, ever going back to that horrible place again. Unless, of course, the madness seizes me and I become gruesomely curious.

One of the smaller things I hate about those boards is the overuse of the :rolleyes: and :mad: smilies, cementing in me an utter hatred of those two little faces even over all the others avaliable. And does the little :mad: smilie not look as though it's groaning with constipation to you? That may just be me, mind...

Most of the rest of the stuff I hate about those boards has already been covered, save for a fourteen page thread I read there once with some frankly bigoted and repulsive anti-transsexual statements, not to mention the homophobia implicit in the way I was made to feel ashamed for finding other women sexually attractive. Oh, sure, there are women there who claim to be lesbians, but how many of them are "political" lesbians (who are not so much actively pursuing women as actively excluding men, presumably to make the point that they can), and how many of them feel ashamed if they admire another woman's looks, for fear of "objectifying" her, and by consequence, all women? I'm sorry, but I don't want to be made to feel ashamed for my attraction to other women, and I am actually having to work to not hear te voices of these "protectors of my rights" in my head every time I look at a picture of an attractive woman. And the worst thing is that they think they're doing it for our good.

On the plus side, I've been trying to get people to mock this board for years, and I'm glad someone has. I suppose I'll have to friend the community now, or something :)
