Small but stupid.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

Is typing Whiskey Tango Foxtrot supposed to make people look clever?

In a word, yes, yes it is.

No, it just means you've spent some time around military people. Jeez. I say that all the time in person because I know a bunch of ex-military folks. Also, when there are little kids around...

Agreed. Where I used to work, this kind of military-speak was in common usage, particularly over the radio - probably because about half the employees were ex-military.

It's popular in Ham Radio circles as well.

Eh, I've never seen/heard it used before, but the comm members were mostly jackasses. What the fuck is their deal with those three words? Don't they have better things to do than get into a bitch-fight over military parlance carrying over into civilian usage?

I think I'm gonna start using them just to piss off random idiots.

I <3 corrupting people.

The Traveller RPG fandom attracts ex-military types in droves. I pick up their lingo when I am hanging out with them.

It amused me, I read "Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot .. .... What The Fuck? *semi-mad laughter*"
