Christianity and homosexuality - always a lethal combination
The whole thing is here

A particularly fine argument begins here.

Continues here.

Is begun again with someone else here.

And there's some particularly juicy nonsense here.

For those of you who can't be arsed to click on the links (and I don't blame you), it's an epic tale of how one person in the Christianity community on Livejournal posted a question regarding groups who might help "cure" her of homosexuality and unwittingly set forth a great fountain of jizz, the like of which had never been seen since, ooh, the last time someone made a post about homosexuality in that community, no doubt. It's a tricky subject, not helped by certain posters whose identities make themselves clear in the above links.

The followup thread here is also not without character.

Anyway if she wants to be 'cured' of her homosexuality then she should stop fucking women.

No I'm not bitter, why do you ask?

"
and up until 1982 homosexuality was considered a mental illness. So why is it all of a sudden not a mental illness and yet the other things you mention are?"

a) It was 1972, dumbass.
b) Just because something was considered a mental illness in the past doesn't necessarily equate to "therefore it's wrong yay!!11"

Ol' Loisboy is quite the "character", is he not? If I were not so determined to Take Nothing Seriously (for the sake of my own fragile mental health), I'd have desk dents in my head by now.

Yeah, or else left handed people would still be considered instruments of the devil, bent on being deviants and criminals and toppling the world order.

I'm evilly ambidextrous in toppling world order thank you.

Adam was not born a inner

I assumed he was born an "outer" even if Michelangelo gave him a tiny penis and made his sack look like his nuts hadn't dropped yet.

Oh man. Christianity and wank. The OTP of "ooh, my head!"

Oh god... how can I not comment again when I saw this?

you should hook up with my friend he's trying to do the same.

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
All I can think of is this one episode of the Norm Show, where they encountered one of these "cure the homosexuals" groups, and met a couple who were "cured" homosexuals... the butchest lesbian you've ever seen and the queeniest guy you could imagine, both of them MARRIED and convinced they were just this lovely wonderful couple.
I'm sorry, but that community seems to be full of idiots... can I say "christianity is full of idiots" without getting into trouble if I'm just referring to the LJ comm? n.n

You know, it takes a lot of arrogance to assume that God is spending all of His time worrying about which humans sleep with which other humans.

M!God: Frankly, I'm a lot more concerned about the frequency with which you lot kill each other. I didn't have a specific "Thou shalt not be gay or lesbian" commandment--but please note that I very clearly said "Thou shalt not kill." Are you listening, George?

Tangential rant

I just wonder how many people - on any side, really - have actually READ the (*#&$@#($*&ing Bible, and how many are just regurgitating what they've been TOLD is in it.

Ughhhh! I have no respect for people who argue what is or is not in [book] if they haven't even freaking read it. You couldn't get away with that with ANY other subject, but magically, people seem to think it's okay with this. Despite the fact that it's more important to them (supposedly) than ANYTHING else, they still do stupid shit like that.

Yes, it's a very long book and it can be hard to read, but if you expect to argue what is in it, it makes absolutely no sense to not read it first. I mean, logic. I admit, I haven't read it all (I'm not Christian, longstorylongstory), which is precisely why you won't see me claiming that I know what's in it.

AUGH. I swear, try to see anyone getting away with this with ANY other work and they'll get laughed out of the room. People KNOW it doesn't make sense, and yet they blindly walk past its application to the one work people should definitely not be skimming.

/rant off

Best put here. Word. No pun intended.
