Sinfest/Abortion wank
Tatsuya is always good for a laugh...depending.

Today's "OMG no you didn't!" was this little gem.

Most responses are happy go lucky because with a name like sinfest you don't expect to see that many readers riding any moral high horses. Well giddyap.
Bonus points for saying that arguments with insults don't help your case while in the same post insulting the otherside. Alas the bait isn't really nabbed by anyone.

Then we have a second poster who is anti-abortion but also anti-anti-abortion legislation which frankly confuses me with all the anti's. This starts the great drinking Coke=being preggers analogy. Which I guess is "Now she knocked-up from Coke."

Snopes is linked, the childfree are brought up and American Idol cameos. I'm just waiting for that picture of Dom's head pastede on an ultrasound to show up. Yay!

While you're there check out the lobster in a urinal.

I preferred the huge squirrel balls to the lobster in the urinal, myself.

Weak. Tatsuya was definitely trolling his fanbase, there, hoping for a big controversial reaction to pump his ego by getting him attention. There's no real joke, the words barely fit the tune ("Verily verily verily verily"? WTF?), it's basically just a faint joke to cover an "OMG pro-life people suck LOL!!!"
Tatsuya gets credit as the wank-instigator here, if y'ask me.

Hey, show me one cartoonist who hasn't yanked on the puppet strings once in a while to get attention.

Yeah, but that doesn't make it any less wanky. And most of them are a tiny bit more subtle about it.

(Though, admittedly, Tatsuya's still less wanky than some of his detractors. *cough*Kurtz*cough*)

::grins:: Wow. I don't believe I let myself get sucked into the wank. But I'm almost having fun arguing with reddragonace. What was really fun was the part where he called me "nasty" for introducing the idea of Teh Virgin Mary being raped by God.

Oh dear. I think I'd better stop myself participating any more wanky debates.

Um, yeah, that's pretty nasty, using the definition of "mean, intending to be hurtful, and wanky" for "nasty".

I wasn't intending to be any of the above. Simply pointing out that, hey, of all the girls who've been forced into unplanned pregnancies, there's the most famous mother, and probably the most influential child. And sure, while (depending on one's religious beliefs) one could view it as a good thing that Mary didn't try any abortive measures, for all the good Christ did in the world, there've been a lot of atrocities committed in His name to boot. There is absolutely no way to know what effect your child may have on the world, and his constant harping on the potential good a fetus could do if allowed to live is ridiculously short-sighted.

Of course, from their side, it may be a choice not to assume a potential bad.

Devil's advocate and all.

Fair enough. But if their side wants to assume that no child will ever be resented by its parents, and that the adoption/foster care system will give every unwanted child a good and loving home, and that every mother can learn to love the product of a rape, and no child will ever do anything that causes hurt to the world, and all the aborted babies are sitting around in heaven* talking about the diseases they could have cured and the people whose lives they would have filled with joy...

Then I reserve the right to call bullshit. :-)

*There's a question-- do aborted fetuses go to heaven? If babies need baptism after birth to save them from original sin, does an aborted baby, who was never baptised, go to purgatory/hell?

I think it depends on the interpretation of the minister. I imagine some of the more extreme sects would say yes. But I'm Jewish so I don't know.
