I chose to post it here instead of fandom wank because almost all of the arguments were not fandom related. And there was even an argument about that, too!

found_objects is an LJ community where people post pictures of objects they... find. Today, kingeryck posts an ad for 'buy one, get one free' plan B emergency contraception, and titles his post "for the frugal slut". People are not amused. The OP wonders is this in like stupid_free and other wank communities yet?


ETA: Okay, okay, it's not funny, lesson learned, let this post stand as a testament to this fact: I'm a dork who can't tell what's funny.

....except for this part, where bast_veiled calls the OP an ignorant teenage gay republican who knows nothing about birth control. I maintain that's a little funny.

News: Man tells pregnant women she is useless to him and is tempted to dismiss her because she's pregnant. Fark: Idiot writes, "Boss tells his senior sales executive that she's "useless" to him because of pregancy. She gets all emotional and litigious, because, well, you know what pregnant women are like" OTF_wank: People write their comments about wimmins (and their place) , preggo, op's spelling skills (or lack thereof), and etc.

Over in the hip_domestics community, petrel asks the age old question, "Cool Whip is the same as whipped cream, right?" followed closely by "How do you make whipped cream anyway?" This draws some slight mumbling from the crowd on the evils of Cool Whip, nothing spectacular, really.

Anyhoo, domestic snark picks it up and upsets a friend of the original poster, coflower, who wouldn't have been upset if everyone knew what an IQ smart person [petrel] is.

Your posts have to be funny. No more of this 'I want to go on a vigilante-style killing spree and then slit my wrists' shit.

Notfunny: A woman getting raped. I would also like to point out that posting that to a humour community? All sorts of levels of Not Right.

Also not funny: Brain damaged kids getting extensive body surgery, libertarians, childporn in general, and let's just put RAPE in big letters there, okay.


For some reason horses getting molested is funny but I'm not gonna argue. But if we start seeing a trend on following those people? That's not funny. That's called 'grudgewanking', 'trolling', and 'beating the already violated dead horse'.

Just because people are angry doesn't make it wank. We're here for funny, not rage.

As well, only you can stop unfunny comments. We're not here for your rage either. Find the humour in the situation, not the anger. If you can't keep it in, you have your own journal. Use it.

I guess what I'm saying is... I'm going to start beating you all until morale improves. If your post doesn't contain a shred of humour, it's gone. If it becomes too much of a problem for you to screen your own work, post-screening will be turned on. Thank you.
