You may have already seen this, but then again, maybe not. [info]kittikattie posted it, I saw it and burst my spleen laughing, and now I pass it on again.

I almost wanted to put this in [info]fandom_lounge, because I'm such an Internet Fangirl, only... that's so weird sounding, and how do you define such a thing? This video is a lot like a fanfic for Internet fandom, though, in a way, I guess. Maybe.

Photobucket, and the very end. Those were the two where I burst out laughing.

College Humour. Two people for one site. I didn't get it until I saw it the second time myself, honestly. I mean, everyone else was one person (or bucket) per site.

I closed out the video when the guys started the fratboy hooting over the two women kissing. Men who want the world to know how turned on they are by women together: gross in real life, gross on YouTube.

Eh, it's supposed to be tongue-in-cheek, and besides, those guys start making out later in the vid. I understood it to be a representation of self-congratulatory wank, considering the nametags of each pair - TMZ/the Superficial & College Humour.

Oh, I know it's meant to be funny, and I'm not holding it up as an example of That Which Cannot Be Done, just an example of That Which Does Not Work For Me When You Do It Like They Did.

If you had have left it for a few more seconds, you'd see that two guys start making out to pretty much the exact same effect a moment later. Eh.

So what? I shouldn't be bothered by what I'm bothered by, because there's something different later on?

Lots of people have squick points. This is one of mine, and I'm sure it comes from having guys I haven't even been introduced to walking up to me and saying "Do you have a girlfriend? Can I watch?" and the like. I have a visceral reaction to it. Others don't, and I'm not trashing them.

Fair enough then, I'm just saying that video is clearly very aware of what it's putting forward. I can see how that could be offensive in a different context, but for me, in such a self-aware one, it's just funny.

Each to their own squicks, though.

It represents the self-congratulatory nature of the sites, and the guys end up making out twice, anyway. Besides, college humor is pretty much... Essentially a bunch of fratboys, so they were kind of going to make them act like them.

To reiterate:
it's a joke.

But of course!

I didn't think it was quite as hilarious, though still funny. The Jessie character sort of spoiled it for me, messed up my suspension of disbelief re: internet sites as people.
