RFJason finally served in lawsuit Yes, ladies and gentlemen, an actual lawsuit against RFJason, and not just the more traditional Internet Lawyering. It seems that it took quite a while for the authorities to catch up with him to serve him for a suit related to the Craigslist stunt he pulled a couple of years ago. The claim isn't about the harassment, though. Instead, Mr. Fortuny's victim is instead claiming copyright violation over the photo he included with his Craigslist reply, which was reposted as a part of the 2006 stunt. The victim sent Mr. Fortuny a DMCA takedown notice, which was not only ignored, but even encouraged Fortuny to repost the picture. Fortuny, as always, claims he was performing a public service about protecting one's privacy online. Slashdot has a discussion on the topic as well. I hope Fortuny gets his ass handed to him in court. Perhaps it'll teach him that throwing a brick in someone's window isn't teaching that person about security, but simply vandalism (at least) or breaking and entering. In any case, I do expect Fortuny to present the most batshit insane defense that the judge in question has heard this year (or next, depending on when the case goes to trial. |
