Glad my body is your business!

Dear coworker:

Thank you for informing me that I am gaining even more weight. I'm sure I never would have noticed without your help.

Thank you for informing me that weight gain is unhealthy. That's such a new one on me, since I don't hear it every time I go on the internet.

Thanks for throwing in that it's unattractive! Never would have thought of that either.

I've been having some serious problems with my already low self-esteem lately, so being essentially called fat and ugly will make sure I feel like total shit. But I don't know you nearly well enough to tell you anything like that, which is yet another reason it should have occurred to you to shut the fuck up.

Good grief, why are they even allowed out on their own?

I have no idea how they manage if they haven't learned better manners. But of course she thought she was doing me a favor!

Perhaps you could point out her abysmal interpersonal skills? Just in the interests of being "helpful", of course.

Ugh, my sympathies. My extended family tried doing this briefly--"Oh, watch it, you're getting fat"--and mostly backed off after a campaign of saying patiently, "And that would be terrible, I'm sure."

(My other favourite is "Well, everyone needs at least one flaw.")

I am a big woman and I've been gaining a bit lately but why would she think I need her to tell me that? Some people are like that I guess. Sigh.

(But I like both those lines. I might have to use them.)
