Damn dirty hippies...
I've been doing, or at least attempting to do, the local volunteer gig for a few weeks now, and I have to ask:
Where are all the people my age?
Seriously, y'all. It's either 19-year-old college students who can't understand why I'm exhausted after a mere two and a half hours of making phone calls, or it's a bunch of 60-year-old hippies having 40-year-old arguments with each other (when they're not busy trying (and failing) to Educate The Young Person about voting audits). But people my age? Late twenties, early thirties? Nada nada nada, not a damn thing.
Where ARE you all? For reals. Are none of my fellow Bicentennial Babies interested enough in the political state of affairs to get up off their duffs and do something about it? Are you too old for it, or too young? Are you all too busy with mortgages and car pools, or is it Kingdom Hearts II that's keeping you from the phone banks? Or is it that *I'm* the one who's out of touch, and there's some secret form of activism you've all discovered that I have yet to discover? Because if there is, I'd love for you to share it with me. Seriously. I hate the fact that there's no one out there who's at the same stage of life as I am. Who gets the same references and has the same issues and cares about the same social problems.
Someone, please, clue me in. Because if I have to listen to any more people my parents' age squabbling like kindergartners, I'm going to have to choke a bitch.
