9:09p I am such a doooooooooork.
So I'm a Gaia Online user. Yes, yes, get the giggling/sniggering/pointing and laughing/kumquat out of the way now.
Anyway, I've been tooling around on Gaia for about four years now. I've been consistently bug-hunting for two of those four years; in the real-time interactive area known as Towns, there are insects the user can catch and collect. These can be traded into make inks for use in dyeing paper and making tattoos, but I digress. There are several rare bugs that can pop up on occasion. In my two years of bug-hunting, I have only seen any of these rare bugs today. In fact, I saw six of them. And caught them all.
It is a small, silly, stupid little thing to be happy about, I suppose, but damnit, it makes me happy.

4:46p S2 Layout Issues
Hi, Guys. I know a good many of the S2 themes are kinda hosed right now. Something changed with the LJ migration to their new data center. The Bloggish and Style Contest themes have their CSS hosted at LJ. That's by LJ's design, with how the code is distributed. The code is set to use LJ's CSS proxy to handle the access and display of the CSS settings. Since LJ's move, though, the CSS proxy has been kaput. But the CSS itself at LJ is still working. Until we can find a way around all this, a couple users have a way that you can use the Custom CSS in your customization area to get your layouts pretty damn close to the original for that layout and theme.
You'll enter two sets of code in that area. The first one would be the code from this URL: http://stat.livejournal.com/sixhtml/themes/common/base-weblog.css
Just go there, copy it, and paste into the custom CSS box.
And the second set you enter will be from the direct CSS URL for your specific theme. You can locate this URL by viewing the source of your journal in your browser (View Source code). If you scroll down to the <link rel="stylesheet" section of the source code, you'll see the direct url to your theme's CSS at livejournal. Go there, copy that code, and paste it after the base-weblog.css code above. Make sure you have "No" selected to use the included base code (it's a dropdown), and that the URL field above the custom CSS box is empty. Click to save changes, and your theme will display much as it is supposed to. There is occasionally an element like a border that doesn't come through, but it's pretty close.
As an example of the CSS URLs, this is the one for the Baby theme for the Bloggish layout:
http://stat.livejournal.com/sixhtml/themes/lilia/theme-baby.css
The CSS URLS will be start with
http://stat.livejournal.com/sixhtml with the rest varying by theme and layout.
I'll still be looking for an alternative to having to futz with custom CSS, but in the meantime, that method of applying the CSS will get your Bloggish and Style Contest journal themes put back together pretty well.
Thanks,
Robin

7:31a At the Garage
Huzzah, the complimentary customer Internet works today! And I find this especially good as we got here at 0700 and we'll be here 'til Shub-Niggurath knows when. At least now I can talk to people without eating up my mobile time. Heh.
I'm probably going to pay out the nose for getting the truck worked on, as she's over warranty, but I'd rather be safe than sorry when sis and I head North for Turkey Day. Although the weather on our travel days will determine just how far North we go, as I am disinclined to test my driving on foully wintry roads and Granma reports they've already had about three to five inches of snow this week.
And no, my icon isn't entirely correct, but that's about how I feel at the moment.

1:46p JEFFREY DONOVAN PICSPAM!!!
This was a lovely idea brought up by sneer to pass the time while we wait for LJ to get back online. I bring you my favorite actor ever, Mr. Jeffrey Donovan. You may know him better as J.J. Jones from Changeling or Micheal Westin from USA Network's Burn Notice. Heck you might even know him as David Creegan from USA Network's short-lived drama, Touching Evil. Or- maybe you've just seen him around as a guest star on Crossing Jordan, Monk, Law&Order, Witchblade, The Pretender, or Millennium (and that's just naming a few off the top of my head). However you know him, he is a great man and a great actor of stage, screen, and TV.
Also? He has his MFA from New York University's Graduate Acting Program. Pretty and a brain- what more could you want?
For more information on the man- http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0232998/
And now for why you're here- THE PICSPAM!!! ( Jeffrey Donovan this way- NOT DIAL-UP FRIENDLY )
If you desire to see more of Jeffrey (and you know you do) then check out this website- http://jeffreydonovanfans.com/gallery/index.php

1:00p Female Doctor Who
In the first Perfect Dark novel (there are two) the Big Geek of the Carrinton Institute goes off on a tangent of how a female actor landed the role of Doctor Who in 2016.
The internets must have explodiated.
Which makes it all the more delish, re: Doctor Who period, is that in the Perfect Dark continuity, evil companies have underhandedly taken over the entire Earth by 2016.
So either Doctor Who is horrible propoganda or actually the voice of revolt.
Fictionally.

12:42p Friends and Cats
It's nice to know that as much as I annoy them and as much as they aggravate me to no end, my kitties still love me. As Shiva, notorious for detesting cuddles, has been happy to demonstrate by curling up beside me on the sofa. I may feel like reconstituted crap and too loopy on pain medication to get much of anything done, but my kitty loves me.
I also have better friends than I ever thought I'd have. Friends who like me well enough to give me e-hugs even though I whinge all the time, who are willing to give me advice on things that should probably be obvious, who talk and listen. Friends who are willing to lend a hand and go to bat for me. I'm a very rich person and I don't know if I can say "thank you" enough for that.

1:21p On Cats (and other things)
I have a new laser pointer. >D Best stress relief and exercise for the kitties all in one. They are already enthralled and must catch the elusive little red thingie that has suddenly appeared on their turf.
Also, sis and I got flu shots for the very first time. Here's to hoping we don't have adverse reactions like dad did.

6:49p Grr.
You. You people. I told your CSR yesterday what was up. Why, why did you have another CSR call today to ask about the same bloody thing? I told her what I told her co-worker yesterday and hung up. Yes, I was kinda rude. No, I don't much care. And if you have someone call again tomorrow? You're getting the same answer and no, I won't be courteous at all.
