Well, more and more people are coming to JF now, so I'm doing another friending meme here so we can all be popular and loved or something, but journals on other sites are fine, too. Special Strikethrough Exodus edition friending jamboree! I've been sort of keeping an eye on the discussions lately on fandom_lounge and on my LJ friends list about people who are thinking of moving over to JournalFen and what they'd like to see from the service. I've also seen a lot of people saying that they would be more active over here, but they don't really know anyone here. So I thought that someone ought to do something about that. Looking at this comm, there was just a general friending two or three weeks ago, but I thought that I would go ahead and do one primarily for people who want more friends over here on JournalFen. Comment below and all that. You know how these work. Hi! What's your name? If you have multiple journals here (for RPs and whatnot), at which one would you like to be friended? What's your shyness, baby? This comm has been great so far. The friending post was such fun to read, and I met about ten new LJers that I wouldn't have had the pleasure of friending otherwise. I thought I'd open up some discussion on shyness, though, to keep things going. Being shy is such a strange and individual thing, and something that I've pondered a time or two. I'm curious as to how it works for other people. Are you only shy online, or are you shy in person too? More or less? Does it depend on the situation? Were you shy as a child? Is it something that's grown worse or better with age? Does it stem from a particular indicent? How shy are you? Is it actual social anxiety disorder, and if so what is that like (because I'm not very informed about it)? Anyway, answer whichever questions you like, or expand on them. I just thought it would be interesting to see how shyness affects different people, and maybe even get some support to feel less shy. |

So, question. In the matter of making friends on JournalFen, specifically in the good old LJ "wowzers, you're awesome. Can I put you on my friends list?" way, how exactly does one go about making friends with somebody who seems really cool on communities and things, but just has an empty journal since they're just here for the wank? I've seen a few people around who I would like to make friends with on LiveJournal since I don't use my JournalFen for much of anything, but it just seems kind of weird to me to go over to someone's journal and say, "Hey, I stalked you over here from Fandom_Wank, can I be your groupie?" Of course, that just be me and my odd hang-ups. What would you think if someone approached you on another site and wanted to be friends there based on what they'd seen of you around JF? |

Welcome! The ShyWank Inititive is a place for internet-shy wankas to gather and make friends. Discussions of internet etiquette, friending etiquette and similar topics are also on-topic. Rules: -Follow the JournalFen TOS -Don't harass people If anyone wants to design a layout, let me know. I'm not great with them, myself, but I'll at least change the colors and style around a little if no one else wants to so that it doesn't look so... default. |
