Dust still lingered in the air even long after the battle was over, causing the room to look foggy and disoriented. The cloudy air made the occupants in the Great Hall look ghostly, though even crystal clear air wouldn't have made the people look less pale. All around the Great Hall, families and friends were crying together, embracing as they mourned the loss of their loved ones. Others were celebrating, but respectfully so. The general mood in the Great Hall was of solemn triumph, with the exception of three blondes who were huddled together, alone where they sat near the back of the room.

The Malfoy family looked uncertainly around the Great Hall, silently surveying the damage that had been done by their fellow Death Eaters and their former master, if they could even regard him as such. It had been nearly a year since the Malfoys had considered Lord Voldemort to be their master, having realized at once as soon as Malfoy Manor became the headquarters for the Death Eaters that the Dark Lord would spare no one, not even his own loyal followers, on his path to pure-blood supremacy. No sooner had Lucius been freed from prison then he was confined once more, only instead of a cell he was made a prisoner inside of his own home. Beaten, tortured, ridiculed and humiliated, Lucius endured everything his "master" had unleashed upon him, shouldering the brunt of the suffering in order to spare his wife and son. They too had suffered at the hands of the Dark Lord, but not to the extent that Lucius had.

It was during these dark days that the Malfoy family's allegiance to the Dark Lord slipped, though they could not let on that their loyalty was fading. Voldemort was a merciless man and any doubts of his followers' loyalty would result in a torturous death. The Malfoys maintained their allegiance with the Dark Lord, silently cursing the day they joined his ranks. However, the only thing they could do was bide their time, silently hoping for the fall of the Dark Lord and the return of their freedom.

Voldemort's downfall happened much sooner than any of the Malfoys could have anticipated. Potter, though still unfavorable in the eyes of the Malfoys, had survived Voldemort's Killing Curse in the Forbidden Forest, though inexplicably so. Even long after she had done so, Narcissa was still shaken by what she had done to protect the boy. Lying to Voldemort and proclaiming Harry Potter dead was risky to be sure, but it was the only hope she had to protect her son and ensure his safety. She had no idea at the time that this single lie would ultimately lead to the downfall of the Dark Lord no more than an hour later, but looking back on it, she was glad she had done it. With Voldemort defeated, her family was finally free from his reign of terror; free to be their own masters.

As the Malfoy family surveyed the scene after the battle, however, they were each filled with their own doubts. Fear seemed to wash over them as they realized that, though they were not faithful to the Dark Lord in the last year, they had each committed unspeakable acts in the name of Lord Voldemort and it seemed impossible that they would be able to talk their way out of Azkaban. As much as they wanted to join the crowd in their celebration, feel the same relief and joy that everyone else felt, the Malfoys knew that they had lost the right to celebrate and that they did not deserve to feel the same relief and joy as everyone else did.

Sitting in silence, watching the crowd uncertainly, each of the Malfoys seemed to be thinking the same thought: What now? After spending their lives attending to the wishes of the Dark Lord, they didn't know what it was to be free. Not that it mattered, as their brief moment of freedom would soon disappear once the Aurors caught up with them. However the simple thought that perhaps they could deserve a life free from Voldemort's tyranny and free from the punishment of their transgressions was enough to cause each of them to pause and take a moment to dream.

Their dreams were cut short as people around the Great Hall started noticing them, whispering to their loved ones with looks of disgust upon their faces. Luna Lovegood, the young girl who had been held captive in their cellar for three months, looked upon them with pity. This seemed to make the guilt feel worse. The Malfoys were surrounded by people whose lives they had ruined, whose family members they had killed, and there was nothing they could say or do to plead their case. No one in this room wanted them there, that was clear, and though it was wonderful to sit and dream, if only for a moment, the Malfoys knew that the moment was over and it was time for them to face the reality of their sins.

"Lucius..." Narcissa whispered nervously to her husband, her voice shaking with fear.

"I know," Lucius said hoarsely, observing the same group of people who were staring harshly at them. "I think it's time we left. Come, Draco."

Slowly, the three Malfoys rose from their seats, causing the group of onlookers to flinch as though they were about to be attacked. Lucius kept his eyes fixed away from the crowd, focusing his hardest on getting his family safely out and away from Hogwarts before the Aurors caught on to their escape. Swiftly yet quietly, the Malfoy family walked along the ruined edges of the Great Hall, thankful for the clouds of dust in the air that helped shield them from view as they exited the Great Hall.

Bodies of slain Death Eaters littered the Entrance Hall, having not been shown the same respect as the bodies of the innocent, which were gathered and respectfully rested in the Great Hall. Not that the Death Eaters deserved the respect that the innocent deserved, but it was still overwhelming for Lucius to see the dead bodies of those he had worked beside for so many years. Some of them were his friends; he'd had many of them over for parties at the Manor, even invited a few to celebrate Draco's birth. And now, here they lay, cold and bloodied on the stone floor of the Hogwarts Entrance Hall.

As Lucius passed the bodies of his fallen peers, he noticed a wand laying a few feet away from the heavy, wooden doors. His family was left wandless after the final battle and it was difficult to tell whether they would be able to have new wands made. It was doubtful that Ollivander, after spending over a year as a prisoner in their cellar, would ever make the Malfoys three wands, so it was unlikely that they would ever be able to have new wands. Lucius bent over and picked up the wand, signaling for his family to do the same. Draco and Narcissa also picked up a wand each from the floor, unsure of who the previous owners were. Now armed with wands, the Malfoys opened the wooden front doors of the school and stepped out onto the Hogwarts grounds where the sun was visible over the tops of the trees in the Forbidden Forest.

"Lucius, where are we going?" Narcissa asked quietly, her voice still shaking.

"First we're going to Hogsmeade so we can Apparate," Lucius began, speaking slowly. "Then... I-I don't know, but we need to get away from here."

"Can't we just go home?" Draco asked desperately, sounding almost childish.

"We can't," Narcissa answered immediately, her voice sounding slightly less shaky. "The Aurors will be there in no time, ready to begin finding and arresting the Death Eaters who survived the war. I wouldn't be surprised if they're there waiting for us now."

"But what else can we do?" Lucius asked. "Even if we pick up and move our lives somewhere else, where will we go?"

"I... I don't know," Narcissa answered truthfully.

The Malfoys walked in silence to the gates leading to Hogsmeade. Once they crossed the threshold into Hogsmeade, they paused for a moment and glanced between each other, hoping someone would say something that would lead them in the right direction. Finally, Narcissa spoke up with as much confidence and determination as she could muster.

"We'll go back home," she said with a nod.

"What?" Lucius said in shock. "Narcissa, you just said moments ago that the Aurors will find us there."

"I know what I said," Narcissa said strongly. "But we can't spend our days running from the Aurors. If we stay, we stand a chance of being released."

"That's mad, Narcissa," Lucius protested. "As soon as the Aurors catch up to us, they'll have us in Azkaban. I've been there, Narcissa, and I plan on never returning. I'd rather live life on the run than go back and I'd certainly rather die before you and Draco ever have to go there."

"It's not that simple, Lucius," Narcissa shouted. "We can't spend the rest of our lives hiding. That's no way to live. If we cooperate with the Aurors and tell them everything they want to know, we could be saved. It's our only hope."

Lucius was silent as he mulled everything over in his mind. Finally he turned to Draco, who had been unusually quiet.

"What do you think, Draco?" Lucius asked.

"I'm not running," Draco said plainly. "I did enough running after... after Dumbledore was killed. I don't want to hide anymore."

Lucius sighed and turned to his wife and she nodded imploringly at him, needing only his approval to make the arrangement final.

"I suppose, if that's the best plan we have then we shall have to," Lucius said defeatedly.

"Then we should get going," Narcissa said hastily. "We'll need to arrive back home before the Aurors come for us."

With one last nod at Lucius and Draco she vanished on the spot, taking the lead in Apparating back to Malfoy Manor. Exchanging looks of uncertainty, Draco and Lucius followed her lead and Apparated back home with the hopes that the Aurors were not already waiting for them.

~*~

The return to Malfoy Manor was a safe one and there were no Aurors waiting at the gates. Not yet, at least. It would only be a matter of time before the Aurors would begin hunting the Death Eaters that survived the war and Lucius was sure that his name was at the top of the list. Upon arriving back to the manor, the Malfoys used their time to begin healing and treating the wounds they had received during the war, all the while waiting for the Aurors to arrive.

It was eerie to see the Manor as it was now. There were blood stains on the carpet, chunks of wall blasted away from mis-fired curses, and shards of glass littering the floor from where their chandelier had fallen. The dining room where Charity Burbage was murdered had once held birthday parties and holiday celebrations. The cellar where Ollivander, Lovegood, and many others were held captive used to store the priceless bottles of elf-made wine that Lucius had enjoyed so much. The sitting room where Lucius and other Death Eaters were tortured to the edge of insanity had once been a room that Lucius would retreat to for comfort and relaxation. The Manor that existed now was not the Manor that lived in the memories of the Malfoys.

Seconds turned into minutes and minutes turned into hours as the Malfoys waited, becoming more and more anxious as time went by. Once their wounds were tended to, Narcissa retired to the kitchen to make lunch, though she wasn't at all hungry. She was thankful, however, for the distraction of cooking so she didn't mind. Neither Draco nor Lucius were hungry either and most of Narcissa's food remained untouched as they all waited, wondering when the Aurors would find them. Just as they were beginning to wonder whether the Aurors would attempt capturing them today, the front door of the manor burst off of its hinges and three Aurors came running in with their wands held out.

"Don't move, Malfoy, or it's a Stunning Spell for you!" one of the Aurors shouted. Lucius recognized him as Gawain Robards, the Head of the Auror department at the Ministry.

"I wasn't planning on it," Lucius replied calmly, though his hand absent-mindedly sought Narcissa's and he held it for comfort.

"Hands up!" another Auror, Dawlish, shouted upon seeing Lucius' hand move. "Don't even think about reaching for your wand!"

"Again, I wasn't planning on it," Lucius continued casually, though he could feel himself trembling as he raised his hands. Beside him, Draco and Narcissa raised their hands as well.

"Comin' quietly, eh?" the other Auror said with a sneer. Lucius didn't recognize him, though he looked harsh and unforgiving. "I can see you're already weak without your master."

Lucius remained silent at this comment, not wanting to give the Aurors any reason to harm himself or his family. Instead he felt a mixture of fear and fury swell inside of him as he glared at the Auror.

"No smart comment for me?" the Auror continued as he approached Lucius, now standing merely inches away.

It happened instantly and Lucius hardly had time to register what was happening. The Auror suddenly punched Lucius in the gut so hard that Lucius collapsed to the floor, clutching his stomach in pain.

"Lucius!" Narcissa shrieked, covering her mouth in horror.

"Not so tough now, are you?" the Auror taunted, aiming a kick at Lucius' side.

"That's enough, Harding," Dawlish said as he held out a hand. "He will receive just punishment from the Wizengamot."

"Too right you are," Harding said with a sneer. As he made to turn away, he kicked Lucius not once, but twice more, causing Lucius to cough up traces of blood.

"Stop!" Narcissa shouted, standing up quickly as if to retaliate.

"Narcissa, no!" Lucius shouted weakly, holding up his hand to stop her. If Narcissa fought back, they would be far worse off. After all, Lucius was quite used to torture under the rule of the Dark Lord and compared to the Cruciatus Curse, this was nothing.

"You stay in line if you plan on remaining an Auror, Harding," Robards said seriously. "The Minister requested we bring them all in unharmed."

"What Shacklebolt doesn't know won't hurt him," Harding said with a shrug, though he backed away from Lucius and joined the other Aurors.

"Where are you taking us?" Lucius asked in a hoarse voice as he coughed up more spots of blood.

Harding chuckled darkly. "Your arse is getting tossed into Azkaban faster than you can say 'lousy Death Eater scum'," he replied. "Didn't take you long to get yourself thrown back in there, did it, Malfoy? The guards were just tellin' me they were missin' you."

"No... no, please. Please just take me," Lucius pleaded desperately. "They have done nothing."

"Sorry, Malfoy. Minister's orders are to bring all of you," Robards said.

Lucius sighed defeatedly, biting his tongue to prevent himself from pleading any more. There was nothing he could say or do to spare Draco and Narcissa and he would only be hurting them more if he continued to speak. He stayed silent as Robards approached him and helped him to his feet.

"Dawlish, you take Mrs. Malfoy, I'll take Mr. Malfoy, and Harding, you take the boy."

Draco flinched as Harding approached him with a sneer, but Harding did nothing more than take a firm hold of Draco's wrist with one hand and hold his wand steady with the other. Harding led Draco over to where Robards, Lucius, Dawlish, and Narcissa stood and the three Aurors exchanged quick glances to confirm their task.

"As per the Minister's orders, we are to take you lot straight to Azkaban," Robards began explaining to the Malfoys. "You'll be spending the night there and tomorrow, a full trial will be held for you where you can plead your case to the Wizengamot."

With a nod to the other Aurors, Robards Apparated with Lucius at his side and the other Aurors followed suit with their captors, leaving Malfoy Manor to escort the Malfoys to Azkaban.

~*~

Even the day after the Wizengamot trial, Lucius wasn't sure how he and his family managed to have their names cleared. Draco told the Wizengamot how Voldemort ordered him to kill Dumbledore and yet he couldn't do it, Lucius told them that when Voldemort rose back to power, he was forced to serve in order to protect his family, however what helped their case the most was when Narcissa told them how she had helped Harry Potter fake his death, ultimately leading in Voldemort's demise. The Wizengamot found that, given the evidence, the Malfoys were victims of Lord Voldemort's power and they were given their freedom, but not without a price. After Lucius, Draco, and Narcissa explained how Voldemort had been using their home as the headquarters for the Death Eaters, the Wizengamot freed the Malfoys with the orders that Malfoy Manor was to be taken into possession by the Ministry for evidence to convict other Death Eaters. It was a large price to pay, but it seemed insignificant in comparison to receiving their freedom.

The day after the trial, the Malfoys were given allowance back into their home one last time to collect clothing, family heirlooms, and other items that the Ministry did not consider evidence. They were escorted back into their home with a group of Aurors and were followed around the Manor as they packed up as much of their lives as they could. Lucius, Narcissa, and Draco each used their wand to shrink down their possessions and collect them in a small satchel to take with them wherever they started their new life. When all of the manor had been searched, the Aurors escorted the three Malfoys from their former home, stopping outside to allow them one final look. Each of the Malfoys took a moment to remember the manor for everything it used to be and they each sighed heavily, hoping to one day return to it if the Ministry allowed.

"Mr. Malfoy, if you'll step over here I have some business to discuss with you before we send you on your way," Gawain Robards called. Lucius and the rest of the Malfoys approached him silently as he pulled out a long, official looking roll of parchment and began reading from it.

"Mr. Malfoy, it is the duty of the Ministry to protect all witches and wizards from Dark Magic and it is for this reason that we are taking your home into our possession. Based on the evidence you have given us, we understand that this manor was the site of gatherings in which Dark Magic was performed and therefore it must be searched to collect evidence to be used to convict other Death Eaters. You understand that you no longer have ownership of the Manor unless the Ministry sees fit to return it to you?"

"I do," Lucius answered with a curt nod.

"And you also understand that you are not permitted on the premises unless the Ministry has completed their investigation and returned your manor to you?"Robards read on.

"I do," Lucius replied once more.

"We thank you for your cooperation and we wish you the best of luck in your new life," Robards said half-heartedly as he rolled up the parchment.

Robards crossed the grounds until he disappeared behind the front door of the manor, leaving the Malfoys alone. They were sure the Aurors were watching their every move from inside, though, so they quietly walked toward the gates of Malfoy Manor and didn't stop until they were completely off of the grounds.

"What do we do now?" Draco asked, looking to his parents.

"We obviously have to find a new home," Lucius answered with a sigh. "Preferably as far away from here as we can get."

"I thought the whole point of letting the Aurors capture us was so that we wouldn't run," Draco said angrily. "Sounds to me like you're suggesting we run away."

"We let the Aurors take us so we wouldn't have to hide, Draco, not so we wouldn't have to run," Lucius answered. "We've done too much to too many people here."

"But we got off!" Draco shouted. "The Wizengamot cleared all of us!"

"It's not that simple, Draco," Narcissa cut in. "To most people, that isn't good enough."

"When the Wizengamot cleared my name the first time, I went right back to my old ways," Lucius explained. "As soon as the Dark Lord rose to power, I joined him once more. No one will forget how I got off the first time and I imagine there are quite a few people out there who will not rest until we're either behind bars or dead."

"It's not my fault you made a mistake, Father!" Draco spat furiously. "Just because you got caught doesn't mean I should have to suffer."

"We're in this together, Draco," Narcissa said sternly. "We are Malfoys, for Merlin's sake, and we are together in everything."

"Fine," Draco replied defeatedly. "So where are we off to then?"

"We have to leave Britain, that's for certain," Lucius said solemnly. "The farther away, the better."

"I don't want to end up in some rubbish third world country," Draco hissed. "I don't even want to leave at all, but I really don't have a choice, do I?"

Both Lucius and Draco turned desperately to Narcissa, hoping she would have some magical answer that would satisfy everyone. She thought about the situation for a moment, turning her back to Lucius and Draco as she thought. Lucius was right, they couldn't remain in Britain. Most witches and wizards wouldn't be satisfied by the Wizengamot's clearance and would try to seek their own revenge. However, she knew how much Draco disliked change and it would be a huge shock for everyone if they ended up halfway across the globe. It seemed there was only one place they could go that would remotely satisfy everyone and she turned around to address Lucius and Draco, both of whom were wearing anxious expressions.

"Ireland," she said simply. "We will move to Ireland."

"Isn't that still too close?" Lucius asked worriedly.

"It's too far away if you ask me," Draco muttered.

"It's the only place we can go where we will be in no immediate danger but we will still be close enough to Britain to stay informed," Narcissa said plainly. "If the Ministry returns our Manor to us and it appears as though it is safe for us to return, then we shall. Until then, we will make our home in Ireland."

It was clear that both Lucius and Draco had their own opinions but Narcissa's tone of finality caused them both to bite their tongues.

"The first place we shall need to visit is Gringotts so we can withdraw every Galleon we have," Narcissa continued, taking advantage of the silence to resume her plan. "Once we have our family fortune, we will take everything we have and begin our lives anew in Ireland."

Lucius and Draco nodded in unison, though they still wore looks of uncertainty. After reviewing the plan one more time, the Malfoy family Apparated to Diagon Alley one by one to visit Gringotts and from there, they would journey to Ireland to begin their new lives.

~*~

A month had passed since the Malfoys had decided to move their lives to Ireland and in that time, their fortunes hadn't improved much. The residents of the wizarding communities seemed to know who the Malfoys were and what they had done, leaving the Malfoys unable to find a home among their fellow witches and wizards. Desperate to keep his family safe from harm, Lucius was forced to buy a home amongst Muggles. It seemed their wealth was the only thing the Malfoy family had on their side and, if they spent reasonably, they would have enough money so that they wouldn't have to work.

During the month the Malfoys were living in Ireland, they shut themselves inside their home for the most part, only leaving its walls to buy groceries and other various necessities. Their separation from the outside world caused them to focus on their personal and home lives more than ever before. In the time before Lord Voldemort rose to power, the Malfoys' focus had been on maintaining their glowing social image. After the Dark Lord rose again, their focus had shifted to serve their master. Now, however, without a demanding social agenda or a powerful Dark wizard to obey, the Malfoy family's focus was on themselves for the first time in years.

Draco spent most of his days moping around the new house, still very upset about leaving his home. Lucius and Narcissa, on the other hand, were spending their days trying to rebuild their marriage. Years of juggling Ministry and Death Eater obligations had taken its toll on Lucius and Narcissa's relationship and though they were still very much in love, they could both feel how much their intimate lives suffered. Once Lucius had been imprisoned, they had to cope with their solitude for over a year and even when Lucius returned home, they had no opportunity to revive their romance. Living in constant fear pushed all thoughts of passion and intimacy aside. Now, however, they were in a perfect position to rekindle the flames of their intimacy.

With Draco refusing to leave the house, Lucius and Narcissa found it almost impossible to be alone together and whenever they were, Draco was always only a room away. Ever since they moved into their new home, Lucius and Narcissa had been desperate to find time to themselves, but it didn't seem as though that would happen. Draco was too distraught about leaving Britain that he seemed unlikely to ever leave the house.

One afternoon when Narcissa returned home from a shopping trip, she found Draco and Lucius in the same places they could usually be found these days. Draco was sitting at the window seat, staring outside with a sullen, vacant expression and Lucius was sitting on the sofa, reading the latest edition of Transfiguration Today. Narcissa couldn't help noticing that today, Lucius was looking particularly handsome, as he had gone to the effort of dressing himself in one of his finest waistcoats; a look that Narcissa found highly attractive. Not only that, but she had been noticing lately that Lucius was allowing his hair to grow long again, a style she preferred over the short hair he had had recently. After returning home from prison, he cut the long, tangled mess that his hair had become but it seemed as though he was growing it again and it was now just barely at his jawline.

She dropped her bags at the door and walked casually over to Lucius, resting her hands on his shoulders. Lucius set his editorial down and glanced over his shoulder to find his wife behind him, grinning deviously. Instantly, Narcissa's hands traveled up Lucius' shoulders until her fingers were entwined in his hair. She slowly began tugging and twisting the ends of Lucius' hair, something she often did whenever she was in the mood. Lucius appeared to have picked up on this action immediately because she could feel his body tense up and his eyes darted to the window seat where their son was lounging carelessly.

"You know, Draco, if this place is going to be our home for awhile, you really should get out there and start familiarizing yourself with the area," Narcissa said casually, dropping her hands from Lucius' hair.

"I would rather not," Draco said sullenly, still staring out the window. "I just want to stay inside until we get word that we can return home."

"Who knows when that will be, Draco," Lucius continued, catching Narcissa's eye. "It could be years before the Ministry returns Malfoy Manor to us, if they ever do."

"Draco, please, you must at least make an effort to get to know the area we'll be living in," Narcissa said desperately, though it seemed her words were having no effect. Draco simply ignored her and resumed his sulking.

Narcissa exchanged glances with Lucius, practically begging him with her eyes to do something. Lucius simply grinned and stood up, walking casually over to Draco.

"Then in that case, it appears as though we will be spending quite a lot of time together," Lucius said.

"Joy," Draco said sarcastically, turning his eyes away from the window to look at his father.

"With your mother and I not working, it will be nice for all three of us to spend every minute together here, do you not agree, Draco?" Lucius spoke so casually that it took Narcissa a moment to figure out where he was going with this. Then she remembered that Lucius had a way of speaking so convincingly with his smooth tongue that anyone was likely to believe him.

"No," Draco said harshly, narrowing his eyes at Lucius.

"Why is that, Draco?" Lucius asked, sounding shocked. "I thought this move would be the perfect opportunity for us to bond as a family and spend time together after the war."

"Are you crazy?" Draco said, standing up so that he was almost eye-level with Lucius. "I hate it here! And I hate being locked up in here with you and Mum all day! I just want to get out of here and go back to Britain but I can't do that, now can I? So instead, I'm stuck in here with you two and I can't stand it!"

"Draco, I was unaware you felt that way," Lucius said thoughtfully. "I would hate to think that your mother and I are making you unhappy."

"Sometimes I just want to be alone, okay?!" Draco continued, practically shouting now. "And having you two around all the time is driving me mad!"

"Then why don't you seek the time alone if you are unhappy?" Lucius asked curiously. Narcissa watched eagerly, knowing Lucius was close to talking Draco into leaving and she kept her mouth shut.

"You know what? I think I will!" Draco said with a nod as though the thought had only just occurred to him. "I'm going out for awhile... I'll be back late tonight."

Draco narrowed his eyes at both of his parents and strode furiously from the room and didn't stop until he'd reached the front door. With one last angry look at his mother and father, he threw the door open and disappeared behind it. As the door slammed shut behind him, Lucius turned to face Narcissa and grinned triumphantly.

"Not quite what I had in mind, but effective nonetheless," Narcissa said with a smirk.

"Reverse psychology works every time," Lucius replied with a seductive grin.

He walked the length of the room in two strides in his eagerness to reach Narcissa and when he was at her side, he wrapped his arms tightly around her and pulled her into a deep, passionate kiss. Neither Lucius nor Narcissa could remember the last time they had kissed so passionately and by the time their lips had finally parted, they were both panting slightly.

"I missed you so much, darling," Lucius whispered huskily.

"Lucius, dear, I was only out shopping for an hour," Narcissa said, shaking her head.

"That's not what I meant," Lucius said, raising a suggestive eyebrow.

"I know," Narcissa replied deviously, stepping away from her husband.

She approached the pile of bags she had acquired while shopping and picked out a brown paper bag from the pile. Unlike the other bags which clearly advertised the name of the business, this bag was plain and unmarked. Narcissa continued to grin deviously at her husband as she made her way to the staircase, still clutching the bag in her hand.

"Meet me upstairs in the bedroom," Narcissa began, licking her lips. "And I expect to find you laying on the bed naked by the time I'm ready for you."

Turning her back on her husband without another glance, Narcissa sauntered up the stairs and Lucius was momentarily hypnotized by the sway of her hips. It wasn't until she disappeared behind the bedroom door that Lucius snapped out of it and came to his senses. He quickly dashed up the stairs and threw the bedroom door open to find the room empty, however the closet door was open just a crack and a small amount of light was visible from the open crack. As tempted as he was to follow his wife into the closet, she had made it clear that he was to be waiting for her when she was ready. Without hesitation, he quickly kicked off his socks and shoes and unbuttoned his trousers. Moving clumsily in his hurry, he pulled his trousers and undergarments off in one motion and began to unbutton his waistcoat. Halfway through, however, the closet door opened and Narcissa stepped out into the bedroom, causing Lucius to drop everything and stare at his wife with his jaw dropped.

Narcissa was wearing a tight black corset that was laced with ribbon up the front and a black leather choker around her neck. Her hair, which was usually styled in an elegant up-do, was let down to drape over her bare shoulders, a style she reserved only for Lucius. Between her legs she was perfectly shaven as Lucius preferred and most of her legs were covered by thigh-high sheer black stockings. A pair of classy stiletto heels (Lucius loved a woman in heels) completed the look and all Lucius could do was stare at his wife in awe, abandoning his half-unbuttoned waistcoat. He hadn't even noticed until he looked her up and down three times that she was holding two black ropes in one hand and a long, black dildo in the other. Lucius and Narcissa were much younger the last time they had put this much effort into their lovemaking and Lucius was already feeling aroused in his anticipation.

"You did not do as I asked," Narcissa purred.

Lucius reluctantly tore his eyes away from his wife for a moment to look down at the shirt and waistcoat that he still wore. He looked back up at Narcissa who was shaking her head and clicking her tongue disapprovingly.

"Remove them," Narcissa said, more forcefully than she had intended.

Nodding silently at Narcissa, Lucius swiftly resumed unbuttoning his waistcoat and moved on to unbutton his shirt. When both garments were open, he arched his shoulders backward, allowing the garments to slide off of him. Once off, he tossed them to the side and laid down on the bed, looking anxiously back at Narcissa. Already he was half hard and they hadn't even begun.

Narcissa couldn't help noticing as she stared at Lucius' naked body that he appeared weak and feeble now after the war, a shadow of the strong, muscular man he used to be. However, Narcissa still found him just as attractive as ever, in fact, perhaps even more so . He seemed more human now, unlike the flawless, perfect man she used to view with reverence and adoration. His new appearance only made her want him more and she could see from the look in his eyes that he wanted her just as much. She sauntered over to the bed where Lucius was laying and, when she was close enough, Lucius reached out to touch her. His hand barely brushed the side of Narcissa's thigh when she slapped it away, tutting at him.

"No, no, Lucius," Narcissa scolded, her voice sounding playful yet powerful as though purposefully taunting him.

Lucius opened his mouth to protest but was stopped instantly as Narcissa held up a commanding hand. She didn't need to tell Lucius that she was in charge and he was more than willing to obey. Her power over him only aroused him further and he found it erotic that she could control him without even saying a word.

Twirling the ropes in her fingers, Narcissa took one of Lucius' hands and held it against one of the bed posts. Using one of the ropes, she tied his wrist tightly to the post, tugging the ends of the rope to make sure he couldn't break free. She walked around the bed and did the same to his other hand, making sure both of his wrists were bound tightly to the bed posts. Lucius smirked eagerly at her, knowing she was up to something. The sly witch always knew how to entice him.

"It's been far too long since I've been properly touched, Lucius," Narcissa began, sitting on the edge of the bed. "A woman craves the strong, forceful hand of a man but if she goes too long without it, she must learn to adjust."

"Narcissa, I-" Lucius began in an attempt to defend himself but Narcissa held up a hand to stop him. Yes, she understood it was not entirely his fault that their lovemaking had been dull as of late, but the feeling of dominance she had over him at the moment was making her want to see him squirm. She laid on the bed next to her husband, making sure she was in full view of him. Lucius had forgotten about the dildo in her hand until she held it up and began stroking it as she spoke.

"I have learned to adjust, Lucius," she said with a devilish grin. Her smirk only widened when she lowered the dildo between her legs and inserted it slowly inside of her, letting out a long, low moan.

"No," Lucius whispered harshly as dawning struck him. He tried to pull his hands away from the bed but the knots were too tight.

"When you were in prison, I craved nothing but you," she said, breathing slowly but heavily as she moved the dildo slowly within her. "Your kiss, your scent, your touch." At the word "touch" she lowered her other hand to her clit and gasped. Slowly but forcefully, she began rubbing the nub as more moans escaped her lips.

"Narcissa, please," Lucius begged, still fighting in vain to touch his wife, but the restraints were unforgiving.

"Once imprisoned in our home, we never could find the time to be alone. Again, I adjusted." Narcissa spoke with a pant, breathing heavily as her hands sped their motions.

Lucius felt his cock harden completely as it throbbed with desire. He too had longed to touch her and to be touched, but like Narcissa, he had to adjust. Now that he could finally touch her the way he had wanted to for so long, she was torturing him as she touched herself, leaving Lucius helpless to do anything except watch; the cruel temptress.

Narcissa's moans became louder as she pushed the dildo in and out repeatedly, rubbing her clit in rhythm. Her hips bucked at her touch and soon, she was panting so much that she could hardly speak.

"But I... I need... your touch, Lucius," Narcissa gasped, coming close to reaching her climax.

"Oh, Merlin, I need you, Narcissa," Lucius practically shouted, still struggling against the binds on his wrists. He looked almost like a wild animal trying to break free from captivity.

"Beg for it... Lucius," Narcissa panted as beads of sweat appeared on her forehead. "Before it's... too... late."

"Please, Narcissa, I need you!" Lucius groaned desperately, his cock beginning to ache with how much he needed her. "I've needed you for so long, I can't... I can't go on much longer without you. I need to touch you."

The hand that had been fiercely rubbing Narcissa's clit stopped and she quickly removed the dildo and tossed it aside. She had been so close to climax but she was glad to stop when she did. Though it felt pleasurable to be touched, she would much rather get off from her husband.

It took a moment for Narcissa to calm herself down enough to regain her composure but once she had, she sat up and looked at Lucius with hunger in her eyes. Lucius didn't have to beg again because she quickly and desperately began loosening the knots that held back Lucius' wrists. The moment Lucius' hands were free, he immediately reached out and started touching every inch of Narcissa's body that his hands could find. His fingers trailed down her shoulders and rested on her breasts, fondling them through the light fabric of her corset. From there his hands traveled down her sides and over the soft curve of her hips. Narcissa arched into his touch, feeling her body tremble far more from Lucius' touch than from her own. Her hands reached forward and she began running her fingers through Lucius' hair, gently tugging at the ends of it to encourage him to continue. Lucius obeyed her unspoken request and began massaging the inside of her thighs.

"Lucius," Narcissa whispered breathlessly.

With her fingers still entwined in Lucius' hair, she pushed Lucius down her body until his face was level with his hands. Lucius nodded to show he understood her silent command and he moved his lips forward, pushing his tongue out to glide along the folds between Narcissa's legs. Narcissa felt her muscles tighten as Lucius' tongue found herclit, shivering at the combination of Lucius' tongue and his hands which were still passionately massaging the inside of her thighs.

"Don't stop," Narcissa moaned, closing her eyes as she tightened her grip on his hair.

At her words, Lucius' tongue flicked at her clit while his hands inched closer to her wet passage. His fingers danced teasingly along her inner thigh until one of his hands met with his mouth. His tongue began moving in circles over her clit and Narcissa gasped as she felt two of his fingers slide easily into her slick entrance. His fingers moved in rapid, compelling motions within her and Narcissa felt her muscles contract around Lucius' slender fingers.

"More, Lucius, give me more," Narcissa cried, clenching her fingers tighter around the strands of blonde hair that she grasped.

She felt a third finger enter with the other two and Lucius' tongue became more fierce as it massaged her nub. Narcissa was quickly nearing climax again as Lucius' fingers curled within her, stroking the walls of her passage. She pulled so desperately at the ends of his hair that she heard him grunt which made his tongue vibrate pleasurably against her clit.

"Oh Merlin, Lucius, I'm going to come!" she shrieked, feeling her breath catch in her chest as she gasped and released Lucius' hair.

Her muscles contracted hard around Lucius' fingers as she came and she moaned loudly as her heels dug into the mattress beneath her for support. Lucius sat up and slowly removed his fingers, licking each one with relish.

"I needed that, Lucius," Narcissa said with a satisfied grin. She couldn't remember the last time Lucius had touched her that way and yet her body seemed to remember every pleasurable sensation.

"As I need you now," Lucius said in a husky whisper. Though she hadn't noticed it earlier, she now noticed that Lucius' expression was hungry with need and desire. She couldn't imagine that it was easy to watch your lover be pleasured while receiving nothing in return and she felt it was time for Lucius to receive his due.

"Lay down," she purred, crawling to the side of the bed to allow Lucius room to lay.

Lucius grinned and did as she asked, his cheeks flushing with excitement and anticipation. He had been waiting for this ever since Narcissa called him to the bedroom and he was eager for her to pleasure him the way he had pleasured her. Once he had laid down, Narcissa crawled back over to him and laid beside him, reaching her hands out to grasp his erection. Lucius let out a quivering gasp at her touch as she slowly worked her hands up and down his shaft.

"Narcissa," he moaned, clenching his eyes shut to revel in his overwhelming pleasure.

Narcissa's hands continued to grasp and stroke the length of his shaft, occasionally pausing to allow her fingertips to rub the head of his cock. After so many years, she knew just how to arouse and seduce him and her hands were working skillfully on his erection as Lucius's moans and gasps grew louder.

"Narcissa, my love, I need you... oh, I need you," Lucius groaned, opening his eyes to rest them upon his wife.

Narcissa could see the passionate fire blazing in his deep, grey eyes and she knew she needed him too. She withdrew her hands from his shaft and licked her lips enticingly, causing Lucius' entire body to quiver. He opened his mouth to speak but instead, only a long, low, needy moan escaped his lips but Narcissa understood. She straddled her husband and, when she was positioned directly above him, she lowered herself onto his erection, causing herself and Lucius to gasp in unison as they became one.

Sitting up straight as she straddled her husband, Narcissa began to rock her hips backward and forward, feeling Lucius' cock throb pleasurably inside of her. Instantly, Lucius' hands reached out and groped her hips, urging her to go on. Beneath her, he was thrusting his hips upward in rhythm with her, causing their movements to flow together like a beautifully orchestrated symphony.

"More, Lucius... more," Narcissa uttered breathlessly, rocking her hips harder and faster against Lucius' cock. As Lucius' thrusts intensified, Narcissa leaned forward and rested her hands on Lucius' shoulders for support, squeezing his shoulders so tightly that she felt her fingernails dig in to skin.

"Oh, Narcissa, I'm close," Lucius gasped, still desperately groping her hips with his strong fingers. "Come with me, Narcissa... come with me."

Narcissa rocked her hips even harder still, tossing her head back onto her shoulders as she felt herself nearing climax once more. Her chest was heaving violently as she panted to breathe and she could see Lucius biting down on his lower, lip, fighting to keep going until they could both be satisfied.

"Lucius, I," Narcissa began but her words formed into a shriek as she climaxed once more, digging her fingers deeper into her husband's flesh.

No sooner had Narcissa felt her muscles clench around Lucius cock then Lucius let out a long, loud grunt as he came and she could feel his warm liquid spill inside of her and drip slowly down her inner thigh. She released his shoulders, hardly noticing the red fingernail marks, and collapsed against his chest, feeling her own chest heaving against Lucius' as they panted for breath. The room was comfortably silent for a minute afterward as Narcissa laid across Lucius' sweat-covered chest, feeling no need to dismount herself from Lucius just yet.

"That was-" Lucius began, but what it was exactly, Narcissa never heard because Lucius couldn't quite find the words to describe it and yet Narcissa understood completely.

"I know, Lucius... I know," Narcissa answered, lifting her hips enough to allow Lucius' spent cock to slide easily out of her. Once separated, she laid next to him and rested her elbow on the bed so she could prop her head up to see her husband.

"It's been years since we've made love that passionately," Lucius commented, absent-mindedly stroking his wife's long hair as he turned toward her.

"Well, luckily we shall be able to do so more often," Narcissa said with a devious grin. "We are free, after all."

"We're free," Lucius repeated in a soft whisper. "It sounds too good to be true. I've waited too many years to be free."

"If this is what it is to be free, then I suppose it was worth the wait, was it not?" Narcissa replied with a smirk.

"Indeed, it was," Lucius answered, returning his wife's smirk.

Narcissa leaned over and kissed her husband gently on the lips before laying back down beside him, hardly caring that she was still dressed in her corset and heels. She was far more comfortable next to her husband now than she would be if she had to leave him for a moment to change. Sighing contentedly, she draped an arm across her husband's bare chest and rested her head comfortably on his shoulder, smiling affectionately as Lucius held her close.

More silence passed in which a wave of new thoughts flooded Lucius and Narcissa. They were free; a fact they hadn't fully appreciated until this moment. In the stress of losing their home and relocating somewhere new, it hadn't dawned on them that they finally had the freedom they had wanted for so long. They had spent so many years convinced that freedom was one of the few luxuries that was not within their grasp that it seemed so surreal now that they were laying side by side with not a care in the world. Lucius sighed as he began stroking his wife's hair once more, lost in his thoughts. Narcissa was right. If this is what it was to be free, then it was most definitely worth the wait.

The fact that the Malfoys considered Ireland as "far away" as they could get amused me to no end. *giggle*

Good job!

Hee, I squeed so much when I saw that 'my' fic had gone up! *g* Like last year, I think I know who wrote this - I can't wait to find out for sure - till then, thank you, mystery author! This is my favourite pairing and I always love new fic about them! Smutty fic in particular :)

I liked Lucius' and Narcissa's relief at Voldemort's demise and Draco's childish petulance. That boy made me laugh, especially when he steadfastly refused to just go out already and leave them alone *giggles* I also enjoyed the image of Narcissa in her lingerie and Lucius half-dressed in his waistcoat ;-) Hot! But aside from that, I was glad to see the love, respect and desire that underpin their relationship and which, to me, are just as sexy as smut itself. :)

Again, thank you for writing this for me! It really made me smile!

I'm particularly interested in the Malfoys post-war, and you did a very good job at giving us a believable way for their situation to play out.

Lovely!

Oh. God. This was hothothot! There was a corset. And Narcissa was in it. And she was all in control of Lucius. And it was HOT! I love stories like this, where Narcissa and Lucius aren't completely evil and the sex is hot because they actually love each other.

This was incredibly fabulous and brilliant!

Now that we know more about the Malfoys, I really like seeing them as a loving family. And this is a loving family, warts and all. I especially like how Lucius defers to Narcissa, which rings very true to me. :)

Very nice -- Lucius practicing reverse psychology on Draco made me laugh out loud, and I loved Narcissa's take-charge ways. The end was especially nice. :)

I loved your depiction of Lucius and Narcissa's solid, loving relationship; Narcissa's practicality and passion and Lucius' useful gift of persuasion coming in handy. I also liked how you wrote Draco, as spoiled and petulant now as he's ever been.

The sex was delicious, with the corset and the light bondage. Nicely done!

I love seeing them slowly realize that they don't have to serve anyone anymore and that they can live their own lives, and try to figure out what those lives will be like. And Emo!Draco and Lucius's reverse psychology FTW. :)

Oh wow! Lucius/Narcissa are a favorite pairing of mine and I almost felt like this was written for me even though I'm not a participant. Very well done and believable. The sex was quite hott and wonderful too.
